Yacht Haven

The staff were very friendly, it was clean. The roosters were a little annoying at times. Haha. We did get a manatee right by our deck! There were many things to do in the area…Sombrero Beach, Pigeon Key Trolley, bike riding, kayaking, and more! We did bring beach towels which I was glad we did. Bath towels, washcloths, etc. were provided in the boat. Not too much rocking of the boat and we had a couple of very windy days. Absolutely no sea sickness. It was pretty stable.

Excellent value

Our group of 5 adults stayed in one of these houseboats for 2 night. I initially booked it a little reluctantly as I have never stayed on one before but it was a good deal compared to the resorts in the area. I'm very happy that I did. It was such a neat experience. We all loved it. The houseboat was clean and everything was in good shape. We had manatees in the water by our houseboat both days we were there. Plus all the other fish swimming around. They have kayaks and bikes that you can use at no cost which is a nice bonus. We went to the Cabana Club that they give you access to as a guest which has a pool and is on the beach. It is a 10 minute drive away but we enjoyed it. There is also a Publix right across the road that you can easily walk to for food or supplies. All in all this was a wonderful accommodation and a great experience. I think I might need to buy a houseboat 😁

We were very excited to sleep in a houseboat. Upon checkin the staff was unfriendly stressing to us how overworked the manager was and the other person was training. After receiving 2 keys we found our way to the boathouse with no help from staff. We entered and were imediatly sickened by the dreadful septic tank smell aluding from the boathouse we had to exit covering our faces and gaging. After letting the staff know this we were forced to sit in the parking lot and wait for maintenence people to arrive and pump out the toilet. They dropped the house into the entering door and we waited hours into darkness ruining our first night. We were told they could not switch the houseboat to another one even though half of them appeared to be empty. We were also told no fishing no grilling allowed on the boat. Basically no fun as we planned to relax and fish from the back deck. This was not allowed. We were very disappointed in the country club area that was very difficult to find and we were rudely scolded by manager when we went to her for directions and a pass to enter. She made many excuses and gave a candle to help with the disgusting oder in one of two rented boathouse. We left quite early in morning for a boat excursion only to arrive to out other boathouse rental entrance having a septic tank hose draped across our entrance unattended. It was disgusting to hv to walk over this to enter and it remained there throughout the day into dinner time which forced us to hv to leave and eat out instead of grilling our fish on a grill set up across the parking lot in the complete darkness no lights smelly designated area. We had booked 2 houseboat 5 months in advance and they were not ready for outer stay. A Poorly managed property with great potential ruined by an incompetent and rude manger. Don't waste yr hard earned money by staying here.
