Customs Cottage

Lovely owners. We met Chris in the town and he introduced himself. Lovely, pleasant guy. Well organised. Lovely that the hosts got milk in for us. Loved reading about the history of the building. Beautifully decorated and well equipped, I was pleasantly surprised by the shampoo/body wash and biscuits etc.. Lovely touch with the games cupboard. The location is great, only a short walk to the shops, church and beach, train station etc. lovely community in town too. I wished we'd have booked longer and taken the paddle boards. Great base for exploring the Jurassic coast

The message to hoover around 🙈 I'm sorry, I feel awful for saying it as the hosts were lovely...and I'm always happy to water the plants, leave the place tidy and even strip the bed (which I was also surprised at asking to strip it) however, who wants to hoover around whilst on a break away, certainly not me. Don't get me wrong, if I'd brought in a load of sand on my shoes then I would, but we were barely in the house. If you aren't confident at parking then this place isn't for you. We found it easier to reverse park up the hill and around the corner. It's tight. If you're tall, be prepared to duck. My husband is 6ft 4 to give you an idea (see photos)

First thing to say is I always do my research before I book holiday accommodation and to this end, it came as no surprise that this beautiful cottage was right opposite a working yard but this in absolutely no way spoilt our stay here! Having a cottage with parking, so close to the centre of Teignmouth, is a real bonus - yes, a little tight to get manoeuvred into but once you reverse park, it is a very good sized space and the car felt totally safe. The cottage is cosy, homely and well appointed and because it is over 3 floors, felt surprisingly spacious. Yes, a slightly quirky layout but we personally love that and the owners have absolutely made the best use of the space. Everything has been thought of to make for a lovely home from home stay. The sofas were very comfortable, as were the beds and the shower on the 2nd floor was good too. The kitchen is set up with everything you would need to cook a meal and the pint of milk left in the fridge was very welcome! The distance from the bustling town centre was perfect for a stroll during the day and then back again for the evening to sample some of the many pubs after popping back to the cottage first to change! We would definitely book the cottage again if we visit Teignmouth in the future and can recommend it wholeheartedly! Thanks Bee and Chris!

There really is nothing to dislike but if I was being picky, some washing up liquid would have been good and maybe a couple of disposable cleaning cloths!

The Cottage gave a cosy atmosphere, and was ideal for family time. Walking distance to the beach, shops, and other facilities. The hosts came to visit on multiple times to check I was OK and enjoying my stay, which was appreciated.

Due to my height (6'9'') the ceilings were a little low on the middle and top floors. The car parking space was interesting to get in and out of.

Really lovely cottage that is very well-located and close to everything in Teignmouth. Great base to explore the surrounding area too. The cottage was very clean indeed and really comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay. A big bonus was the lovely artwork on the walls, which were all by the owner, Bee! Chris and Bee are both lovely, and we'll definitely stay here again when we visit the area again.
