The location which is in a small village near Legoland!

The cleanliness of the property was disappointing. At first glance, everything seemed tidy, but in reality it was not. The oven trays were very dirty and sticky with old stains, and the kettle was full of limescale. The radiators were covered in thick, old dust, clearly not cleaned for a long time. Another issue was the host’s cleaning policy: we received an email stating that if more than 2 hours are spent cleaning after guests, an extra fee would be charged. Given the condition of the property, this rule seems unnecessary – proper cleaning would naturally take longer if the place is to be truly clean. The house was also cold on arrival. It is an old building that takes time to heat up, and it appeared the heating had only been turned on shortly before we got there. The radiators were set very low (on 1), and when I contacted the host, instead of ensuring proper heating, I was advised not to turn the thermostats up too high because of oil consumption. This is not acceptable – comfort should be a priority for guests. Moreover, the heating switched off automatically at 21:00, while we stayed awake longer, meaning the house became cold in the evening. Our children developed coughs and runny noses after just the first night. With no air conditioning as an alternative, we had no way to make the house warmer. Other issues included a lack of curtains on most windows (so no privacy when the blinds were open) and very uncomfortable bunk beds – mattresses felt like sleeping directly on springs – as well as pillows that urgently need replacing. I am leaving this feedback in good faith, as I have been hosting myself for 20 years and know how important it is to provide a comfortable and well-maintained space. Unfortunately, in this case, several basic aspects fell short.
