Among the others, the Cathedral of Sant’Agata (the city’s patron saint), Bellini theater, the street markets, Via Etnea (Catania’s most important and scenographic street), the wonderful Monastery of the Benedictines (home to the Faculty of Human Sciences) and the Etna are worth a visit. For horse meat lovers, Via del Plebiscito with its typical street embers is not to be missed. You can already smell the delicious aroma even from a long way off! An unmissable stop-over just outside the city is the coast, and more specifically the beautiful Gulf of Acitrezza, where in 1881 Giovanni Verga set his best-known novel, “I Malavoglia”.Catania Fontanarossa Airport is 15 minutes drive away, while Catania Centrale railway station is 1 km away.
