Rambla at South City SQ

It was well located in Woolangabba where we were going to a sporting event and has a vibrant area within and around it. Everything we needed was in this location of South City SQ, nice restaurants, a full range supermarket and easy access to frequent public transport. The common areas on the roof of the building were fantastic. The room was modern and comfortable and had what we needed for a nice stay. Being just out of the city and so well located for public transport it is a good place as a base to explore Brisbane.

The app with a key was quite confusing, especially when there were separate keypads for permanent tenants and hotel guests. We couldn’t get in at first and were helped by the site security person. When we returned from some shopping and the same thing happened, we were put on to staff based in Melbourne who enabled us to get a physical key to access the building and the apartment. While the system is a good one and keeps costs down, it needs to be more clearly explained and marked at the entrances and elevators to stop the confusion. I didn’t think that the Rambla app was very useful.

Great location, close to public transport, was clean and comfortable

The parking was a bit confusing and having the room key card on the phone was a little annoying as it wouldn’t work sometimes

What a location! So convenient! Cost about $15 in an Uber to get to QPAC and GOMA, there’s a Woolies, BWS & chemist right downstairs, a cinema and some really lovely restaurants. The room and balcony were big enough for the two of us, comfy beds and a great kitchen with everything you need including a nifty dishwasher and full-sized fridge

I didn’t know when I booked that you have to pay extra for parking and that they take a $200 security deposit that can take 7 days to come back to you. Not a deal breaker but it was a surprise and perhaps I just didn’t read the fine print. Online login was a breeze but I can see un-tech-savvy people being overwhelmed by it. I liked using the app on my phone as a key, it was nice to not have to remember to take keys with me when going out lol

It was nice to have bus stop next door the the building. Also there were restaurants and grocery store on the ground level which is convenient. Room was on small end but clean and had a balcony for fresh air which is always a plus. Kitchen if you dare to use it is sufficient for some basic cooking. Nice rooftop terrace and a view. Liked the birds singing in the morning in inner garden.

Checking was a nightmare, finding the entrance door is next to impossible. Every day we saw guests in the lobby having to call the support for help how, what and where to go to check in. We requested physical key only to be left to arrive at the property with still no instructions where to pick up the key. We had to call them before one was provided. Parking again we had to call them 3 times to get it sorted when the ramp did not want to open in the morning. We were unable to use the bbq due to inability of the lock to be enabled for physical key. Wifi in the room kicked us out every 12h or so. After 8pm it was unusable, nothing worked and since this was a business trip you can imagine how fun it was. These things need to be a lot better. Since it is located within a "shopping center" with a cars and streets going through it, instructions need to be way better.
