Loved night stay. Room 1st class,staff friendly and efficient and excellent breakfast.

First of all, the hotel doesn’t have a lift or air conditioning, which was already a bit disappointing. The stairs were dirty and didn’t feel well looked after, so my first impression wasn’t very positive. When you finally get up to your room, the corridor looks tired and outdated, as if it hasn’t been renovated in years. The room itself was a decent size, which was good, and the bed, although small, was actually quite comfortable. However, there’s no wardrobe — just a hanging rail with a few hangers, which really isn’t enough if you’re staying more than a night or two. The lack of A/C made the room feel stuffy as well, especially in warmer weather. The bathroom added to the dated feel: vinyl flooring, an old anti-slip mat that looked like it had seen better days, and only miniature bottles of shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner provided. Everything worked, but it didn’t feel fresh or welcoming. On the positive side, the cleaning staff did a good job tidying the room every day, which made the stay a bit more comfortable. And of course, the location of the Sea Hotel was absolutely perfect, which is probably its biggest advantage. Still, I really think the management should consider investing in proper renovations, because with such a great location, the facilities really don’t do the place justice.

Staff were friendly and helpful, parking was plentiful and breakfast was good. The hotel itself needs some work, it's looking tired in areas. The room itself was sizeable, however there was a bit of patchwork repair and an awful smell. The room was overly warm, very uncomfortable. Due to the constant noise from the beach bars, difficult to get any sleep with the windows open. It was however a convenient location for the beach and the amusement park.

Unfortunately there was little food available at lunch despite advertising a bar menu. Door to room wouldn't close without slamming obviously a common problem as doors everywhere slamming. Very noisy with people shouting and children running around the corridor. Best thing was location on sea front.

The hotel was fine, shame there was no lift. Breakfast was hot and lots of choice and a bonus it was included in the price. I would use this hotel again as it’s situated near a park and the beach and entertainment.

Great location, right on the sea front and amusements just over the road for kids. Rooms wree great, plenty room and very clean. Great breakfast, super friendly staff. Would 100% stay again when back at shields

I didn’t want any food, bed was very comfortable, internet access was the best and the staff were very friendly and helpful

Room was filthy, soft furnishings looked as though they were rescued from a skip.

Located at both beaches & a perfect position for eating, drinking & entertainment. Lovely rooms (some slight touchups needed) & fabulous breakfast/evening meal facilities. Friendly & polite staff who are always happy to help.

All good, great location for beach, parks & walk into town Easy & free on site parking. Very friendly & proffesional staff, a true assett to the hotel. Nice choice for breakfast. Lovely large room with a view to sea & park. Only comment would be that the bathroom would benefit with some tlc however it all worked and the bath towels were large & soft. Nice outside space, comfy dining room and amicable bar with tv.

Would book again if staying in South Shields.

Went to a wedding evening and everything was fine until we were woken at 0830 to workmen on the roof (we were in the annex with a flat roof). Then the power went off so no lights to have shower etc. On a positive the wedding reception was great and the breakfast was excellent

Great hotel in a seafront location. Very friendly staff. Excellent value for money restaurant menu, Good breakfast choices, Ample car parking.

The area around the hotel was great, everything was super close and the beach being outside was amazing but the condition of our room was so so poor. The wallpaper was hanging off the wall, the dressing table was barely standing up, the floors were super dirty so it overall felt super run down and unclean

Lovely location , clean and tidy and good parking and access to the annex rooms.

Staff were excellent - very friendly - but bed very uncomfortable/bits of biscuits under both sides of the bed/had to put towel under tap as it wouldn’t stop dripping/looked like blood on the carpet - shabby paintwork/carpets etc/restaurant and food lovely so were the staff again - but upstairs needs renovating - felt like a contractors hotel rather than a seaside stay hotel. Views nice out to sea and the river. Wasn’t expensive but don’t think we’ll stay again!

Comfortable stay for 1 night, reception was welcoming and friendly. We had a 2nd floor room overlooking the park to the rear of the hotel, this was lovely and quiet although the floorboards creaked a lot when walking! Comfy bed and good amenities in the room. Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked to order and very tasty with a good choice on the menu. All in all a good place to stay in South Shields, the location is excellent for the beach, town centre and great curry houses on Ocean road. We would stay again and recommend.

The location is excellent with good access to beautiful beaches, parks and mamy rerstaurants to suit all tastes. Sadly the hotel had a few glitches. The shaver point did not work and the bedside light stopped working. We were not told that there was no hot food after 8 o clock. Saying that the information is on the website is not good eneough. There was no written information material in the hotel bedrooms about services etc. The kitchen ran out of smoked salmon even though it was on the breakfast menu - on a Bank Holiday weekend! Seemed to suggest a lack of forward planning. This was disappointing as otherwise the nreakfasts were excellent.

hotel located about 150m from the beach. we had a room oremuim suite with a view of the park on the other side of the street. after entering the hotel and the room we were greeted by an unpleasant smell of "toilet". there is no air conditioning in the room, there is only a fan. at first glance clean, but after looking closer you could see the shortcomings of the cleaning team. morning cleaning unfortunately poor. towels were not changed, they were left on the floor, and a dirty towel was hung on the bathtub instead of a new one. very tasty breakfasts in the form of a menu from the menu. great service, the lady in the restaurant and 2 young bartenders nice and smiling. in our opinion the hotel 7/10

Very close to the beach and location, really nice staff and had a very good meal in the pub.

Fabulous location Common areas are in great shape but the rooms need some TLC Staff are wonderful
