About this cabin rental
The cabin is located in the heart of Rendalen’s most beautiful natural surroundings. Surrounded by majestic mountains and quiet forests, it forms an oasis of wildlife that you rarely get to witness elsewhere—right outside your door. From a bustling birdlife to curious squirrels in the treetops, a charming fishing lake, and traces of wildlife crossing the trails. Perhaps even a glimpse of a predator.
The cabin is characterized by excellent hiking opportunities in the mountains and forests, as well as several fishing lakes in the area. Swimming is available right at your doorstep. The cabin is simply furnished. Peace and quiet. Little foot or animal traffic, as the cabin is set back from the road and has almost no neighbors. Located 400 m from the road and parking.
The cabin sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms. Spacious and cozy living room with a wood-burning stove and fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with a stove and a wood-burning stove, as well as plenty of kitchenware. There is an outhouse, a wood shed, and a small campfire site by the water.
Directions:
The cabin is located on Hanestadkjølen between Hanestad in Østerdalen and Bergset in Rendalen. Follow Hanestadveien until you reach a turnoff on the western side of Harrsjøen—Kaldbergveien heading south. There is parking available here if you wish to walk to the cabin (approx. 40 min). A road toll of 50kr applies for use of Kaldbergveien, with the option to pay via Vipps (this is indicated on signs at the start of the road). Continue along Kaldbergveien to Gunnarstjønna, where parking is available. A trail runs along Gunnarstjønna to the cabin, approximately 400 meters.
Other useful information:
Fishing license: 50kr per day, 250kr per week for Gunnarstjønn. Further information is displayed on signs at the start of Kaldbergveien. A fishing license is required only in Gunnarstjønn; no fishing license is needed in Horntjønn.
The water in Gunnarstjønn is generally safe to drink. However, we recommend that you bring your own drinking water just to be on the safe side.
Hiking tips:
Hike over Kalberget to visit the fishing lake Horntjønna. Blueberry and cloudberry picking in the magnificent pine forests of Hanestadkjølen. For longer hikes, we recommend visiting Klettvollen, Kivfjellet, and Hanakampen! This offers an undisturbed journey through the beautiful terrain, guaranteeing outstanding views and a good workout.
