About this house rental
We welcome you to enjoy time away in this very secluded spot on Lewis Smith Lake with no busy boatways or noises as you are tucked into this tiny slough. The home is conveniently located between Smith Lake and Trident Marinas. You can dock your or a rental watercraft during the high water season (spring and summer)only directly to the home's 1 slip, covered boat dock. Please note, our property cannot accommodate a truck/boat trailer turn around, but there is secure parking available about 1mile away from the property for an additional fee. please inquire for more details. You will be a quick, 20minute boat ride to goat island or views of the infamous “Castle” for enjoyable sight seeing on the lake.
You will enjoy beautiful views with only about 50 steps to the water. You can enjoy a float or kayak on the lake, but please bring your own life jackets! Read a book in a rocking chair, or take a nap in the hammock. We hope your kids will enjoy exploring the waterfall, playing games, and catching fireflies. Make sure to pack your smore supplies for the fire ring, then star gaze as the fire burns low.
We invite you to relax and enjoy time with family and/or friends in a slower paced environment. There are plenty of ways to enjoy quality time with your loved ones here. Our family just recently visited the Secret Slough. It was the secluded retreat that we hoped it would be. Very, very private! We thoroughly enjoyed the welcoming entrance with the sound of the waterfall as we arrived to the house. The house is very spacious and suited our family perfectly. We cook a lot and we found the house to be very accommodating for our needs. Lots of utensils, pots, pans, and basic spices. Very well stocked. Even had a colander and I was impressed. If you love a taking a bath, you will be in SHOCK with the very large tub in the master bath. I think most of our family tried it out. FABULOUS! We loved the nice access to the lake and it was amazing to have our own little area with hardly any boat traffic at all. We fished, swam, boated, grilled, made s’mores, grilled steaks, played lots of games, a darling retreat that we will visit again. Colleen was VERY responsive. She was a delight to work with. She answered all our questions and was very accommodating. All directions are perfect for arriving and leaving. We couldn’t have asked for a better spot for family time. Thanks Colleen!

The property is in a beautiful area away from things. It offered so many things for us to do. The kids LOVED the kayaks and lilypad. Kitchen is well stocked with things needed for cooking. The rooms were comfortable. The TVs are older and do not have many apps, which could be an issue for some. The wifi is hella spotty and in the evenings we just connected our hotspots. The biggest and only issue we had was the number of german cockroaches that were in the kitchen/dining/living area. I killed so many roaches. I did let the owners know and she did apologize and was having pest control come out after we left. Leaving wasn't really an option as we drove 5 hours. Just take heed when booking that this may still be a thing.

This was the second time my 3 siblings and spouses have stayed here. It is perfect for a quiet and relaxing long weekend. Colleen is wonderful to work with and the house is VERY clean. It may be quiet but the house supplies lots of games and water access when summer time. I highly recommend staying in Secret Slough!

Very comfortable arrangements. Driveway and turn around area at house is tight (do not try to bring a boat to the house—contact property owner about other boat parking options) but that also leads to a very quiet, secluded stay. One neighbor across the slough who is very kind. Owners have plenty of entertaining items for your use: lake toys, games, fire pit area with firewood, etc.Cell signal and internet are very spotty but that also allows you to disconnect and really enjoy the beautiful views and peaceful surrounding. We very much enjoyed our stay….only negative was internet going down which lead to no TV but that also lead to plenty of family game time—negative quickly became a positive!
