Schlechtbacher Sägmühle

Living in the countryside. A magnificent view of the Schlechtbach Valley and the forest beyond. The vacation home between Schlechtbach and Birkenlohe was built by the famous Stuttgart architect Behnisch. With its huge glass front and abundant use of wood, you feel at one with nature. A living room with a tiled stove, a cozy sofa nook, and a large table for gathering together offers everything you need for a vacation with loved ones. And if you’d like a little more privacy without being alone, you can enjoy the goings-on from one of the armchairs on the loft. A modern kitchen with a small dining table and a large patio door invites you to cook together, blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors. A large, bright bathroom with an adjoining sauna offers everything for wellness enthusiasts. The living area, bedrooms, and a restroom with a sink are all on one floor. The kitchen and bathroom are located one floor below and are accessible via a narrow, fairly steep staircase. This staircase is only suitable to a limited extent for small children and people with limited mobility.
As children, we spent our weekends and vacations here with our brother and our parents. Now, we also enjoy spending time with our children and grandchildren at the Schlechtbacher Sägmühle. It’s a place we love and one we now want to make accessible to others as well.
The Schlechtbacher Sägmühle is located in the heart of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park, between Schlechtbach and Birkenlohe. Meadows and forests invite you to take walks, go hiking, and ride bikes. Reservoirs, swimming lakes, small springs and caves, a fairy-tale forest, an archery course, an amusement park, a farm and technology museum… there’s so much to discover. And all of this within a 20-kilometer radius. And for those who don’t want to get in the car at all, there are meadows, a stream, and a wonderful forest right on your doorstep. If you enjoy cooking and want to use fresh, local ingredients, you’ll find them at various farm stands, weekly markets, local butchers, and wood-fired bakeries. But even if you’d rather have someone else cook for you while on vacation, there’s a selection of restaurants in the area.
