Lockhart bungalow is THE place to stay when you in Munnar, most amazing location and very homely vibe with luxe experience. View from the bungalow is just out of this world, feels like a painting . Early morning walk in the tea estate was the most beautiful walk and we were lucky to witness a rainbow. Mr.Cherian made our experience so good and comfortable.

Staying at Lockhart Bungalows was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to India. It truly felt like stepping back in time and imagining a tea plantation manager living here in the early 1940s. The 3 bedroom bungalow has been beautifully and sympathetically preserved, with mid-century furnishings that keep the character of the era. Surrounded entirely by the rolling tea fields of the Lockhart Tea Estate, the property sits in the most peaceful setting imaginable, with wonderfully tended gardens with lawns and flowers. What we didn’t realise when we booked was that this would be far more than just a room for the night, it was a complete experience from the moment we arrived. We were welcomed with a complimentary high tea served on the lawn overlooking the plantations. In the evening we enjoyed a superb dinner from the chef’s excellent menu, served in the original dining room of the bungalow, which made the whole experience feel wonderfully authentic. There was a lovely couple staying in one of the other rooms. The night was incredibly peaceful, surrounded only by nature. The next morning we were taken on a complimentary guided walk through the tea plantations just as the workers were walking to work a fascinating glimpse into daily life on the estate. On returning, a delicious breakfast of our choice was served on the lawn. A very special mention must go to Jayasingh, who looked after us throughout our stay. His service was exceptional, professional, attentive and discreet. It honestly felt like having our own personal butler. After breakfast we were also taken on a complimentary visit to the estate’s tea factory for and joined a guided tour. When you first look at the room rate it may seem a little pricey, but once you include the high tea, dinner, breakfast, guided plantation walk and tea factory visit, it becomes a truly unique and excellent value experience. The entire team, led by manager Cherian, were absolutely wonderful.
