Apt 10 Beachside Beauty Lux Studio Steps from Beach

This was a great place We loved all the clever ways of maximising space. Walkable from Hove station, near the sea front and lots of busses to get around if you get tired of walking. We valued the opportunity to store bags and to use separate toilet facilities having arrived in Hove before checking in.

Liked all the big and small things - free sleep kits, coffee, a well provisioned pantry and the design and practicality of the studio. On site housekeeper friendly and helpful and addressed all requests promptly. Enjoyed being able to do clothes washing on site, supplied soap a plus. It was hot (heat wave) but the John Lewis fan worked well and was practically silent. There are seagulls, but the supplied ear plugs sorted that and any noise from other guests. Really enjoyed the 4 nite stay.

Only very minor comments. It would have been great to have a recycling collection bin as we were buying preprepared food items and had a lot of packaging to dispose of. Shower is small and hard to bend down in for anyone of height, but worked well with good hot water each time. If ever renovating, moving tap location to the side would help!

The building is on a quiet street. Good WIFI connection in my room. The place is SPOTLESS. Probably the cleanest place I have ever stayed at. James the live in caretaker is very helpful and friendly. Excellent communication with the owner. Reasonable rates for the time of the year I stayed.

Sadly this place did not work out for me. I did a search on Booking.com for an apartment with a washing machine. This place came up and little did I know that it is a former hotel with TINY rooms which are now called studios. They are not studios and they are not apartments but small former hotel rooms. The advertised washing machine is a shared coin operated washing machine in the hallway. £1 per 10 minutes which is flat out a rip off. Nothing is mentioned about that in the description. The picture of the kitchen is a shared kitchen in the basement! Very deceiving pictures. The pillows were flat, no towel rack in the bathroom (not enough space for it!) The shower cabin is the smallest I have ever seen. I barely fitted inside it. The bed is a folding bed (very uncomfortable), the 2 sinks in the room are TINY. The fire alarm had issues and went off twice in the same night and was then tested most part of the morning 2 days later. Very disturbing. Paper thin walls. I had a voice coach staying in the room next to me. She was practicing her vocals all day long! I could hear the guests taking in the other rooms. The bathroom light stays on (triggered by a sensor) for about 10 mins. which was very disturbing in the night. Guests checked in at midnight. Again, very disturbing. No elevator and the stair case is very narrow. Not ideal when one has heavy luggage. I had expected an apartment with a kitchen (which is what I searched on Booking.com initially) and a washing machine so this was very disappointing for me to find myself checking in at a tiny room in a former hotel.
