You are literally staying in the spot where the famous Civil War Battle of Fredericksburg took place in 1862. Also nearby is the Heritage Trail where you can jog or walk along the tree-lined canal. And if you are a tennis or pickleball enthusiast, nearby Kenmore Park has several beautiful FREE courts plus restrooms surrounded by trees where you can play any time before dark (see photo). Mornings and later afternoons brings lots of friendly players who will welcome you. Street parking is available, just watch for signs that say resident permit required.

The University of Mary Washington has a large cultural center with lectures, art galleries, and performances throughout the year. And the nearby Riverside Theatre for the Performing Arts is a local dinner theatre that holds popular musicals.
