Fort Charlotte Guest House

Fabulous, warm and comfortable heritage property that was extremely well located in the centre of town. Breakfast was wonderful and the hosts were engaging and friendly. Tea, coffee, fresh milk and chilled water provided in room. Spotlessly clean. And a helpful information pack was provided in advance. Very close to the Bressay Ferry.

As a heritage building the stairs are steep when carrying suitcases and our small room had a modest double bed. None of this was a problem - but it is good to know up front.

Very central and clean but it’s the staff that made our stay much better. Very knowledgeable about the area and always happy to help.

Self-check in/out was easy for this centrally located guest house. Room was lovely, well appointed, spotlessly clean, and spacious. It looked onto Commercial Street, where you can watch the world go by day, but it was quiet and peaceful by night. Staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful when we met them in the cosy breakfast room in the morning. An early continental breakfast was no problem the second morning when we had a plane to catch. You can come and go as you please, and there is a little terrace you can use to sit out in if the weather is fine. Highly recommend if you are looking for a comfortable stay in Lerwick close to the harbour, restaurants, and shops. Parking was not a problem for us either.

Breakfasts were perfect. All staff were terrific.
