Lakeside Shepard's Hut 'Sanderling'

Peaceful. Bed was so comfy

Very dark

We enjoyed sitting by the fire in the evening listening to the birds. The hut is beautifully decorated and the welcome cake was a lovely touch! The bed was quite comfortable too and the heating was a bonus when it got chilly. Really nice location too, we'll be back in the future to try some of the facilities!

Luckily we brought some wood with us to utilise the fire pit as we couldn't find any provided. Some bits of the hut were falling apart too, like the handle to the cupboard, the towel holder and there was no sink stopper in the bathroom. The neighbouring tree also scratched against the hut making an occasional annoying squeaking sound, but nothing major to stop us enjoying our stay!

It was a nice stay - facing the lake, comfy bed and BBQ facility. It was such a relaxing getaway to be away from the busy life. The staff were very responsive.

There's nothing we didn't like. If you look for Watersedge on Sat Nav rather than the post code, it would be easier to find the place.

Quiet area, barely any light polution, great nights sleep. Everything we needed for 2 nights, wouldn't have wanted to stay longer.

Toilet very uncomfortable to use for anyone over 5ft 8, would benefit from facing the shower instead of facing the door. Flooring as you step out of shower has started to deteriorate, spongey to stand on. Nowhere to hang wet towels. Toiletries in bathroom are eco friendly and a good brand, spoilt by Bayliss & Harding hand soaps - rated poor on apps like Yuka, would expect better from a wellness institution. Received arrival details which said not to park at end of road near accommodation and to offload luggage then return car to main car park. We kindly followed the instruction, then returned on our second night to find all 3 of the other accommodations had parked with no consideration, which made for a noisy night/morning when people were in and out of their cars - why set a rule if you're not going to police it? Also made it difficult to get our car up and turned around when we collected our luggage to check out. Told 2 staff members in the car park on our exit and they really didn't seem to care (the lady actually told us it's better to park up there, especially on a Sunday, So why tell us otherwise?).
