Maison de Charme Giulietta is the very definition of rustic charm. The location is exquisite with day and night views out to sea that are simply magical.
The pool gives a chance to relax and take in the countryside. The local wildlife is incredible, with wild pigs and fireflies being spotted on our stay. The kitchen is well stocked and I already miss the coffee (google how to use a Moka pot if you're not familiar and you'll have the best coffee overlooking the secluded sea in the mornings).
The location is a good distance from the motorway (SP) and we drove to Genoa for a day (1hr20) and drove to Pisa another day (1hr25). The supermarkets in Levanto (20min drive) are well stocked (especially for a coeliac, the Conad has a really good Gluten-Free section with Gluten-Free Foccacia and pie). If you're self catering you'll find the kitchen very very well stocked and a selection of herbs growing just outside the kitchen door.
The owner is knowledable and very helpful and has help locally who were also great and friendly.
The house is 200 years old and has managed to maintain it's original history (fascinatingly documented with the pictures on the wall) whilst having been restored to maintain the authenticity of the area whilst offering modern unobtrusive facilities.
There is nothing more that we could reasonably ask from this location that wouldn't have sacrificed the beauty of the place.
If you're taking kids (mine are two and four and the four year old loved the bunk beds) you have to supervise them at all times (pool, stairs, slopes) but this isn't different to anywhere else at this age.

The view is truly incredible, that is really the main strength of the house. This is also not too far from 5 terre. Kitchen is well equipped.
The house is quite old fashioned and we would have appreciated something more comfortable; it’s very humid and the beds really need to be changed. There is no proper parking space and we had to park in turns, which is quite dangerous especially people are driving very fast.
High potential, this house would overall deserve a proper refurbishment to be amazing.

The house is perfect for a complete getaway off to the Italian tranquillity with great views on the Ligurian sea. Having a car to explore the surroundings is recommended, yet if you build your exploring around the bus transport schedule with connections to Bonassola and Levanto (both about 25 minutes away), it's definitely doable without a car. The bus stop is in the nearby village of Montaretto, about 15-20 minute walk from the house.
It's a lovely place for families and groups of friends looking for a peaceful stay. However, the house is not for those who are used to spending their holiday in hotels or modern rental establishments. It's an old stone building with true soul and a very positive and peaceful vibe about it. The perfect place for dreamers looking for a genuine rural Italian idyll as read in books and seen in films.
We were especially fond of the kitchen which had all the necessary equipment and a large table in the middle for cooking beautiful Italian meals while sipping wine. And a lovely terrace for spending long evenings chatting and sipping some more wine, just because... you're in Italy! The bathrooms of the house are pretty and comfortable, renovated keeping in mind all the needs of the guests. The pool is simple, clean and exactly the right size for cooling yourselves down. Also, for everyone who loves star gazing - there's no major light pollution in that region which results so many stars to be seen.
Communication with Luciana and Mauro was flawless. We felt very welcome and part of the whole setting for those four days. I can't wait to return!
