A very nice place to stay for a week while exploring Sicily. We rented a car and were able to visit many interesting places within around two hours’ drive. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed, including a comfortable bed, air conditioning, and a lovely view from the window. We did not cook during our stay, so we cannot comment on the kitchen facilities. The stairs did not bother us, although they are indeed quite steep, as some previous guests mentioned. Carrying a large suitcase upstairs can be a bit of a challenge. We stayed in July and had no problem finding free parking either on the same street or just around the corner on the other side of the building. We especially loved the nearby bakery, which was probably the best one we visited in Sicily, as well as the local gelato places. There are also several restaurants within walking distance. The beaches nearby are not the most beautiful, so we usually drove to other locations. However, it is still possible to simply cross the street and go for a swim. There was also a lively atmosphere in the evenings, with many people out on the streets enjoying themselves. We really liked experiencing the local nightlife and the relaxed Sicilian atmosphere.

One small thing we missed after arriving was having a couple of coffee capsules available. There was a coffee machine in the apartment, but we were not sure which type of capsules to buy, as the local shops offered several different kinds. As a result, we did not use the machine at all. It might be helpful to leave one or two capsules for arriving guests, or provide information about the correct type. It would also be useful to give guests a few practical tips about the area. For example, shops may close during the afternoon siesta and often close quite early in the evening, sometimes around 9 p.m. This was unusual for us, especially since the streets remained very lively until 2 or 3 a.m. We eventually discovered a 24-hour vending machine nearby selling drinks. Including information like this in the welcome instructions would make it much easier for newly arrived guests to find their way around the neighbourhood.
