Atlantic Views Retreat

Apartment was very clean and comfortable. Great views of the sea, town and mountains to the back. Very spacious balcony and sheltered from sun most of day. Quiet residential area. Apartment in a nice area of Estoril, has a few restaurants and bars nearby and few small mini markets. Not all in one location. Walking distance 5-15mins from the apartment, depending on your fitness. The best beach nearest to the apartment for us was Tamariz which took us 20-25 mins walking. . There are more beaches near Cascais, which were nice beaches but a lot busier. We walked to Cascais along the seafront several times and this is a beautiful town, beautiful harbour lots of restaurants and shops and much busier than Estoril. Approx 40-45 mins to walk there. If you're going to Cascais there is a lovely park close to the marina end, with ducks, geese, hens/cockerels and turtles. We went to a few local places to eat and our favourite was Sinaleiro, at the both of the road. 5-10 mins Lovely food, staff and ambience. Also would recommend Adego de Monte, which is closest to the apartment 2-3 mins away and Piroute near the small park in Monte Estoril.

Nearest nice beach was further than we thought. Anything from 15-30mins depending on your level of fitness. Steep hills from seafront up as far as apartment. Once you're on the seafront the walking is flat. Got mixed messages about checking in and checking out times. Booking.com gave us a different time to portugal portfolio's, who also gave us mixed messages. Check out is definitely 10am. Not sure of official check in times. As you are met at the apartment, probably best to link with person who is going to meet you at check in. Cassie met us and was very helpful. Also wasn't aware of online check in process until received whatsapp message day before we travelled. Need to allow a bit of time as this required details of all people in your party. Similar to check in for a flight. Only thing I would have changed about the apartment was the balcony railing. This is quite high and limits the fabulous view when your sitting outside. Despite that was great to be not overlooked by anyone.

The biggest positive point of this apartment is the location: a great area, close to the promenade, the beach, restaurants, and with easy access to the train. The surroundings are beautiful and convenient for exploring the area.

We booked this apartment based on the description and photos, but unfortunately the reality did not match our expectations. The price-performance ratio was not right. We contacted the property management (Portugal Portfolio) and the owner shortly after arrival to report several issues. The local management team was friendly and professional, and they reacted by sending a cleaning service and a handyman. Some problems that could be fixed immediately were addressed (e.g. replacing damaged items, repairing the socket, removing the rusty balcony ladder). We appreciate their efforts, while other improvements understandably require more time. However, the apartment should not have been handed over in this condition in the first place. It felt as if there had been no final check before arrival. We found several issues, including poor cleanliness (e.g. hair in the bed), a loose socket coming out of the wall, damaged furniture, and a rusty balcony table. Overall, the apartment is very basic, quite worn and in need of more care and renovation. The second bedroom has simple fold-out beds, and the mattresses move during the night, which was not comfortable. After our feedback, the word “Luxury” was removed from the listing title, which we felt was not an accurate description of the apartment from the beginning. Some smaller improvements were made during our stay, which we appreciate. We are still in contact regarding a fair price adjustment, as we believe the accommodation did not meet the advertised standard.
