Nuits paisibles à la campagne

Basic bungalow in the countryside. Parking in off a country lane. Entrance through a front door, living room to the left, kitchen to the right. Further on the bedroom, bathroom and separate toilet. All clean. The bedroom is basic with a good double bed with clean linen. A table and chair, two small pine bedside tables one with a lightbulb in a holder. A white plastic eight door shelving unit and black metal tubular clothes hanger. The bathroom has a bath with shower attached to the wall. Shower curtain. Good shower plenty of hot water. Shower gel. Toilet next door. Both clean. My hostess was kind enough to make me Fusilli pasta for my evening meal. Breakfast is provided. My host supervised the boiling of the saucepan for my hot water for my tea. Outside is a garden and chestnut horse and geese in a pen. It is very quiet, secure and it is clean.

It is either a rustic rural idyll or outrageously isolated expensive stopover. There are no facilities for miles. Nearest restaurant is four miles. Fine if you have a car. There is no bell, number or sign to identify the house. Linen felt damp the room slightly musty, but, with the window open it was fine. No comfort. Bedside lamp - funky or basic? The light in the room hangs on bare wires with the connector showing. No shade! Covered in fly spots! The shower is hung half way up the wall. She charges you 5€ to charge your phone(s). The breakfast is frugal. There is no comfort. The night before AND after I had self contained flats for half the price. The lady is nice, but, it’s incredibly expensive. Good luck to her!
