VILLA MARIA

Vista eccezionale, posizione, parcheggio incluso, non scontato per Marina di Camerota, camera grande e pulita. Accoglienza del custode che ci è anche venuto a recuperare in paese visto che ci eravamo un po’ persi

La camera è molto spaziosa ma un po’ spoglia, basterebbe qualche arredo in tinta con le piastrelle blu e bianche del bagno, per dare un tocco marinaro alla camera

Posto strategico in pieno centro bellissimo con vista mare

Villa Maria is close to restaurants, grocery stores and a pharmacy and overlooks the rocky shoreline. The harbor is also close and I was impressed with the small museum in the harbor with clear, well researched information on the aquatic wildlife and the history of the area (starting 500,000 years ago!). If you don’t want seafood, the restaurant menu choices are limited. The VM room is adequate with a balcony and sea view. I would call it spartan, with an inadequate a/c and a small refrigerator, plus a nice bathroom. Parking is in front. Google maps got us close, but you need to take the turn along the shore front and VM is the 2nd building from the corner.

If you want to be away from tourists, this is the place, particularly Americans. As a result, very little English spoken here, which is ok by us. There’s not much to attract tourists and not much of a vibe but nice scenery. The area is somewhat isolated by surrounding mountains. There seems to be only 2 roads into Marina di Camerota and, lucky us, the easy way was blocked (according to the polite policeman at an intersection) so we took a long detour up, up, up and down again via narrow roads with numerous switchbacks. (Leaving was easier, but we got diverted off the northbound motorway and onto miles of more narrow roads and switchbacks.)
