Bed comfy but overall not great at all

There was no mention of breakfast and the 1st morning we went to breakfast the pub was in darkness and locked up. This was the same the 2nd morning so we got breakfast else where

Well worth a visit

Staff friendly, pub and food cosy & good value. The rooms are lovely and clean, beds comfy, a bath is always a bonus for me before bed and shower in the morning. The pub closes early enough for you to get a comfy quiet nights sleep, but you can’t hear it from the rooms anyhow as it’s out back through a courtyard . The only noise we heard was a stream nearby, lovely ! Saw family and friends and the locals are always friendly. Definitely recommend

excellent find, staff very welcoming on arrival. Rooms are a nice size and are in an annex with access straight outside. Perfect due to my early morning start. Meals were excellent and the bar staff very helpful and attentive.

A great weekend break, just what we needed.

We were very happy with our stay at The White Mare, it fulfilled all our needs. There was only one hitch - my husband drew all of the curtains as we got ready for our evening out. So when we returned later that evening and couldn't find any tea, coffee or cups I went round to the bar to ask for some. The next day as we got ready to leave, low and behold all the things we needed the night before were on the window sill, behind the curtains. I blame my husband! Anyway thank you to all the kind staff who made us welcome. We had a lovely weekend.

Cozy, quiet, convenient stay in a beautiful historic building, ample parking and great location!

The White Mare was an excellent stop in Beckermet. We were there to visit family, who lived right around the corner. Our family recommended we stay there and it was perfect. While we normally just get one room for the 4 of us, we split into two rooms and the price was reasonable. The rooms were nicely decorated, clean, and had an excellent tea selection! We booked a night in the restaurant for our family, all 7 of us, and it was an outstanding evening. Excellent service, wonderful food, great prices, and a beautiful location. We will certainly make the White Mare our destination for visiting family in Beckermet, and in fact, it was so convenient that we'd like to make an extended visit next time. We also think its a great location to "get away" from the larger villages, perfect for walking St Bees Head/Fleswick Bay, then returning for a cozy dinner in the restaurant. We had one room above the pub and it didn't seem too loud, as the pub closes around 9pm.

Would have been nice to have two beds in one room for our family of 4, but that being said, it was easy and affordable to split into two rooms. Not much else to say - it was great! Would highly recommend!

Great place for our short stay in the area.

Large room, very clean. Fantastic home made food available. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It is obviously a popular local pub and we had the pleasure of meeting some lovely, interesting people. Quiet location. Perfect for our stay.

Not a problem for us but access to the room was via external stairs which could be difficult for anyone with mobility issues.

Fabulous stay that I can highly recommend

No breakfast available. Ate in the restaurant, the food was good and at a good price. Rooms were lovely. Very clean, nice quality bedding. Courtesy tray in bedroom with tea, coffee and biscuits was a nice extra. Very quiet location

Although the rooms were lovely, the courtyard outside was a bit dilapidated and untidy. It could have been easily tidied up or refurbished to make it more attractive. The room was a little cold. The window fastenings were loose. However we would stay again.

Bathroom spec was poor. Bathroom plumbing odd (hot/cold taps turn opposite ways). Toilet cistern didn't cut off every time.

Beautiful location nice room lots of extras in the room. Friendly staff.

On checking in I just made a cursory check that there would be food on that night and was told that there was a private party in the pub that night so no food available. This was not stated when booking and was the reason we booked there so we would not have to drive. As it was we walked 2 miles to The nearest place to eat and had to pay for a taxi back adding to our cost. Saturday night so taxis hard to come by. I said we were disappointed with the situation straight away and person serving us said they would ask the chef if anything could be done...but they didn't know what time this would be and what could be done. We had a nice time but spent more than necessary.

Comfortable, very affordable. Great combination, eat, drink and sleep and the clientele was very friendly.

Helen was great, down to earth and welcoming. Loved listening to the stream in the background, very relaxing. Not that i drink hot drinks but the fact that there’s a free tea and coffee station in the bar is a nice touch. Overall, room, drinks and food was very reasonable and I would stay again. Thank you.

A little busy due to weather damage repair works however, this stopped at around 4/4.30 so didn’t impact the stay just the beer garden noise for an hour. That said the works need to happen at some point so fully understandable. Would have liked the option of breakfast for an additional cost.

Onze reding in nood

Het belangrijkste was het dat we met de groep er nog terecht konden/ Het bleek dat onze boeking voor de nacht in een ander hotel niet meer mogelijk was omdat het geen hotel meer was. Dus in de avond rond 20.00 uur een ander hotel gezocht. We kwamen er laat aan maar de beheerster maakten nog gratis sandwiches en chips voor ons. er was geen ontbijt mogelijk, maar stamgasten hielpen ons aan een adres. Dus wioj waren erg gelukkig.
