About this house rental
This refurbished cabin is ideally located on the waters edge of Schroon Lake, with direct access to the lake, fire pit and dock space.
With 2 bedrooms plus a generous loft space, this cabin comfortably sleeps 8 people, with the loft making a perfect hideaway for kids to enjoy. There is a deck with a grill, as well as a screened-in porch, providing comfort all day long while enjoying the lake views.
The location is the perfect spot for swimming, boating and s'mores around the campfire in the summer, while also conveniently located for skiing and snowmobiling in the winter – being only a short drive to several Adirondack High Peaks, 45 minutes to Gore Mountain and one hour to Lake Placid. There is one dedicated dock space allocated to this property for up to a 21' boat from approximately mid-May through mid-September. The Schroon Lake public boat launch is a one minute drive up the road and is open during the summer months.
The property is a two minute drive or a 15 minute walk to downtown Schroon Lake, with all conveniences including two pubs, a Tops grocery store, a movie theatre, top quality coffee and local shopping.
The kitchen is well stocked with a large oven/cooktop and plenty of pots and pans to make cooking at home an ease. All beds come with linens and bath towels. The house is also equipped with a washer and dryer and a portable A/C unit in the loft.
Rowell Retreat has plenty of space for the whole family...including the boat!
The property is part of a homeowners association and requires a signed liability waiver to ensure all renters are aware of the communal property rules (all rules are basic respectful property requests).

My family enjoyed this home! Great location, close to town, and steps away from the water. This house was well stocked and had some nice items for the kids, puzzles, life vests, J &J shampoo etc. Thanks Alyssa!

Home is in a great location on the lake and is Walking distance to town and several restaurants, convenient stores, town beach, playground, mini golf, and other activities at The Lodge which is open to the public. Kids loved fishing right off the dock, and playing on the beach. Home is very nice, clean, and in a great community with great neighbors. We had 4 adults and 3 children (ages 11months- 9yo), which we found to just fit us all. Some nights were tough to sleep just being so hot and no cool air conditioning downstairs. There is an a/c unit upstairs. Would have given home 5 stars if had cool air conditioning throughout. Our stay was in late August so cool nights helped sleep when there was a good breeze. We had an issue with one of the breakers constantly blowing when we used the microwave. Luckily switch board was easily accessible to fix but made heating any food up a pain at times.Overall we loved our stay, and would definitely stay again!

We spent 6 days at the cottage. It was smaller than it looked in the photos. It says it sleeps 10 but I think that would be awfully tight. The place was very clean, beds were comfortable. The host was easily available by text. It was a very humid week which made sleeping uncomfortable.
The 2 children enjoyed the loft and the beach. The screened porch was a plus until it rained heavily since there were no windows to close.
The cottage would be a lovely place to stay in the cooler months of Autumn
