    Often writing a review its very straightforward .Good... Bad.....Mediocre...La Villa Aphro is different. The location overlooking a small private beach with breaking waves over the rocks is stunning. With previous good reviews I felt confident in booking. The booked room overlooked the sea...great view. Somewhere this hotel has lost it's way...it could be amazing. The staff were lovely and friendly but unable to deliver. No beer or wine available at the bar. Staff did eventually procure local beer the next day. The menu, labelled as gastronomic was largely unavailable including salad! One chicken meal was served with what was clearly gone off meat. Maintenance was poor. When the bed collapsed a brief attempt returned the mattress to a squint...until it collapsed again on last night...spontaneously and not through any challenge placed upon it! The response was..."it's unfortunate" but no solution. The loungers were dirty and unclean. The pool though well cleaned had a missing grate on which I was injured when fell into it scrapping my foot to bleed requiring attention. The private beach was filthy with plastic and rubbish washed ashore! The access gate to the beach was broken and hazardous to use. Cushions for the outdoor furniture were only sparingly put out on request. The room had no hot water apart from one afternoon for a brief shower. The signature bathtub was loose and leaked. The AC unit was too small to cool the room in Ghana's very hot and humid climate. The blinds didn't all work limiting what should had been a panoramic view from the room.....the mat in the room was stained and grubby. The TV and fridge worked and the internet too! On the last full day the manager appeared and asked for our feedback which we honestly gave and it was listened to with promises of setting it right. This place could and should be a stunning gem but let down by lack of maintainance and attention to standards.....the beach was cleaned that day and what a differrnce that one thing made.....The staff whilst lovely need support guidance and education. WouId I go back? Actually yes bringing my own food and drink and a DIY kit!

    This is a wonderful place to stay. The beach out front is peaceful and empty, the food at the hotel is great, and the staff is very helpful. I loved my balcony and my sunrise view. I would definitely recommend it!

    If you like the water, this place is for you. It’s safe, family friendly and the food is good.

    The hotel did not have hot water throughout , internet was on a pay as you go so everyday as we watched Netflix the internet would cut out and have to be topped up again, the water coming out of the sink was yellow and the manager could not explain why and the water supply stopped at one point.
