The small village of Marliana lies 469 metres above sea level and is surrounded by fir and chestnut forests. It is famous for its collection of chestnuts and mushrooms, which are used as ingredients for local specialities. Visit the many restaurants and trattorias in the region as well as the numerous food and wine festivals that take place throughout the year and savour these delicious dishes. Among the specialities we recommend: Croutons or pasta dishes with porcini mushrooms and "necci", a type of crêpe made from chestnut flour and usually filled with ricotta cream.
