Stanley has to be Tassies most charming & quaintest town! For a small town theres an awful lot to do, thus warranting a 2-day + stay. The Stanley Hotel is a historic building, in the middle of the old town & within walking distance of all eateries & attractions. The room has been updated, is exceptionally clean & well-appointed (very comfy bed, bar fridge, tea & coffee making facilities, loads of storage space & ensuite), windows opened. The staff were super welcoming & provided me with a very early check-in.
Unfortunately, my window opened over the roof to which the kitchen vented & so room was sometimes filled with smell of frying food. The bathroom is a bit tight. As is to be expected in a historic building the stairs are steep & narrow (makes bringing luggage up a bit of a challenge) & the stairwell light sensor sometimes fails to light or goes off midway down stairs.

Location was an easy walk to town, restaurants, penguin viewing platform.

food at the resaurant was wonderful
as we are older couple the stairs were too much and trying to get our luggage up was difficult
