Happy House

It stated in the listing that it was dog friendly and that there was a garden so we assumed the garden would be safe for the dogs and properly enclosed which it was not. That was the only issue but it was a big one.

The house and location were superb.

It claimed to be pet friendly with a garden so naturally I assumed the garden was secure which it wasn’t. Two gardens and neither were secure which was a big problem. If I’d known this I would not have chosen to stay there. We had to tie the dogs up or leave them inside whilst we sat outside. This was very annoying because it’s the dogs holiday too. They would’ve liked to have been able to mooch around the garden and bask in the sunshine as we were. If the front garden was made secure I’m sure I would choose to stay again and again as every other aspect was perfect.

What a great place to stay! I'm from Brighton, and I can assure you that if you want a panoramic, uninterrupted sea view, with a dedicated parking space AND be pet friendly, AND within walking distance (we don't mind a 40 minute walk) of the town centre (and the cute village of Rottingdean in the other direction), then I defy you to find a better place. I could wax lyrical about the house, but instead I'll put it like this - I would buy it, as it is, equipped and furnished as it is, without batting an eyelid. It's even decorated to our taste. What's more, our hostess Tara always responded promptly and very helpfully to any additional queries or requests. Thing is, we'll only go back to Brighton now if Happy House is available, anything else will feel a come down. It just FELT great staying there. P.S. the attached photo is me having my morning cuppa on the front patio. Just behind my hand is the parking space, with the marina in the background.

I can't think of a thing that isn't wholly unreasonable (e.g. waiter service, private chef, heli-pad), or incredibly petty.

It's a cute place in a quiet location with a view of the sea. Lots of details and thought put into the decor. Comfortable bed, easy parking, and bit of garden good for the dog.

Property was very cold when I arrived and took a day of running the heating to warm it up to 15C. I contacted the owner, who was nice but dismissive. I'm sure it's great for summer but IMO not really suitable for short winter stays until the owners get heating sorted out, especially if you have health issues.
