The location and to stay in an old traditional home

Location was great- it wasn’t right in the hustle and bustle of Gion leaving fairly quiet evenings. Size was perfect for a family of 5. Host was kind and readily available.
Bedroom doors creaky with movement-relevant to an old house just could wake others in middle of night.

The location was great. Easy to walk everywhere and close to public transit when needed.
The place was OK but the upstairs bedrooms had a musty smell and messed with my breathing and allergies. It was hard to get a good night's rest. The best thing about it was the table area we could gather around and plan out our next day. I would stay somewhere else next time.
