Mostowa 23 BRUNO Apartment, self check-in 24h, free parking, air-conditioning

It's a very nice, modern apartment (just a few minutes' walk from downtown) that includes a parking spot. We received a very detailed description from the host and had no trouble finding the apartment and parking spot. The contactless key handoff is a big plus. The problem is that - to get to the parking spot - you first have to go into the apartment to get the magnetic key card, then go to the parking spot to open the gate to a gated property. The parking spot is located on the completely opposite side of the block from the apartment! At check-out, you have to go through this whole process again in reverse order. The host simply said, “It can be a little bit complicated, but you have a free parking spot in the city center.” - I guess that's fine, because with a public parking spot you wouldn't be any nearer. Anyway with mobility issues you should be aware of this procedure, and it’s a plus if you can at least do this with two people (one stays in the car because parking fees apply everywhere, while the other retrieves the key...). The apartment itself is modern, bright, with a view of lots of trees, and is just the right size! Bathroom, kitchen, dining table, sofa, balcony, electronic window blinds… everything you need for a cozy stay - except for the bed! The “mattress” isn’t actually a mattress but just separate foam pads stacked on top of each other. We were glad we only had to sleep on it for one night. If you never have back pain and a parking spot in the same building isn't important to you, I can recommend this apartment.

The mattress (layers of foam stacked on top of each other) was an absolute joke! When we lay down, we could feel the slatted frame (or rather, the wood underneath), and we both woke up with back pain. It was also a plus for us that the apartment had a balcony. We would have liked to use it, but there was no furniture for the balcony. On top of that, there was a huge construction site right in front of our apartment. When we arrived, the construction workers were cutting asphalt and rails, and we couldn’t open the windows to get some fresh air. The work continued in the morning. I know the host isn’t to blame for this, but a heads-up would still have been very nice. I also sent the host a written message about this (and the information regarding the mattress). He acknowledged it but didn’t apologize. The parking spot is definitely a plus and was one of the reasons we chose this apartment. However, don’t assume that you’ll get a parking spot in the same building or in the underground garage (that’s what we had in the other modern new buildings where we stayed during our tour through Poland). There’s a short walk between the apartment and the garage, which can be difficult with luggage, as a family, or for someone with a physical disability. The apartment is very nice and the location is great. It's a shame that the mattress is so uncomfortable and that communication with the host was always a little strange.
