The cabin is very nice, just as described. It is way back off the main road, you have to take seasonal roads back to it, which were in excellent condition. We were pleasantly surprised that there were very few bugs, we enjoyed a campfire both nights.
Mike was very responsive and a great host. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.

This cozy cabin in the woods was just the family getaway we were looking for. Our kids (7&9) enjoyed the loft, which felt like a fort to them. The fully-stocked kitchen saw several pancake mornings, and the location felt remote without being too far from everything (8 miles from the grocery store, an hour to Petoskey or Charlevoix).
Getting there via Boardman River Rd and Wildwood was the better way - Google wanted to send us on Shippy, which is narrow and not in as good a condition. Our Mazda3 (front-wheel drive) had no problems navigating the dirt roads.
We didn't need the window AC as the trees and open windows kept the cabin cool.
Our host, Mike, was really lovely and made sure we had everything we needed.

This place was perfect for our family vacation. It was secluded but still close to stores. It was so peaceful, with a lot to do outside including a fire pit and trails through the woods to hike. My kids loved the loft and the spiral staircase. It was perfect for us and we hope to make a trip back up again soon.

The cabin was great - it had everything we needed. It was pretty secluded so it was very peaceful. The owner even set up the fire pit for us so all I had to do was light it and we had a bonfire going on the first night. He was helpful and checked in on us to see if we needed anything. I would definitely stay here again.
