Wonderful desert home with open hiking 100 yards away. I suggest hiking south to the cell phone tower and then turning west and circling around back to your starting point. No internet other than the mobile hotspot on your smartphone but signal was strong. Owner chose to meet to lead us to house rather than providing directions since the road is not on Google Maps yet.

We were looking for a quiet getaway where we could read and hike. We were not disappointed. The house was beautiful and well built. The kitchen had everything we needed. There were lots of considerate touches. Since it was February, I was concerned that the house might be cold, but the passive solar and gas heaters kept us cozy enough that we even shut the heaters off at night and still woke up to a comfortable temperature.
We were looking to unwind rather than be on the go, but we did enjoy some hiking and rock hounding. Novice hikers should know to be careful of loose rocks and big cats... very big cats. We didn't have any trouble ourselves, but the terrain is cat country. The surrounding area has trout fishing, a winery, art galleries, historic sites, etc. There is plenty to do, and this house is a perfect home base.
Despite feeling like you are in the middle of no where, you are still only 20 minute drive from a supermarket, laundry, restaurants, etc.
The television is on aerial only, but you can bring dvds. Also, there is a cell phone tower nearby. We use Verizon and had great cell and data signals at the house.

We loved our stay at this rural sanctuary. Teresa and Stuart were gracious hosts that left many thoughtful touches in the beautifully designed, immaculately clean home. Built by the owners, the house is in the middle of the high desert about 45 min from Albuquerque, 30 min from Jemez Springs and 1 hour from National Monuments like Valles Caldera and Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks. Definitely worth the stay! Be prepared with groceries, and to un-plug without WiFi.
