Hersey the donkey was adorable and a delight to feed. However, it is important to note that donkeys require at least one companion to support their mental and social well-being. He was on his own. The front patio was delightful. We saw some nice birds. It was nice to hear the frog at night as well. Hot tub was excellent.

We rented this house for two adults during a visit to Weaverville family. What was supposed to be a rainy if somewhat windy stay turned into a long weekend without power, water or cell service while hurricane Helene devastated western NC. But this review is about the house, not the weather. Lovely old house with up to date furnishings. A tiny bit musty until it aired out, after that fine. The bedrooms are a bit odd due to it being an old house, but absolutely fine. Comfortable, many books, lots of kitchenware. I can't speak to anything power driven, such as stove, etc., because the power cut off the first night we were there (again due to Helene, not the house) and of course is still out. The position of the house at the end of the road on a hill was just beautiful. Neighbor donkey was quite enjoyable (he likes carrots). Wonderfully quiet, with forest behind. The full hot tub came in very handy for a water source to flush the commodes as were were marooned until we found out how to get ourselves home with 3 interstates closed due to flood and landslide damage. We will definitely be back once Weaverville and Buncombe County recover from the terrible damage they've suffered. This house stood firm and was a safe haven for us.

We loved staying here. Sunsets on the front porch are the very best. Our kids loved the donkey and all the wild turkeys! The beds are very comfortable! The kitchen was nicely stocked with all the essentials. The one downside for us was that the pond wasn’t fully stocked as the listing shared. We saw plenty of minnows but no substantial fish. Our boys fished for hours and never caught or saw anything. It was one of the main reasons we chose the property so that wasn’t awesome. If fishing isn’t important to you, then you will absolutely love this place! The owners were very responsive.

We loved the simplicity and warmth of this little farm house. Hershey (endearingly nick named SMOOOOOOCH!), made for the best morning alarm clock. Sunsets snuggled on the big front porch made for beautiful family memories. The location was a little off the beaten path, but well worth the extra 10 minute drive. 100 Acre wood is a little slice of heaven.
