7 Mi to Dtwn: Little Rock Home Near Interstate

The host was friendly, responsive, and helpful from the first message. Being about seven miles to downtown and close to the interstate made outings convenient while the neighborhood stayed quiet. A comfortable, refreshing spot to relax and reset.

I don't usually write bad reviews, but I have to this time. This was a horrible experience! Two weeks before our check in date, I emailed the host to see if we could check in two hours early so my son-in-law (who works nights) could sleep. I got no response. A week before check in, I emailed again, and got no response. The night before check in I called the host and left a message about early check in. Again, no response. At 3 p.m. on the day of check in, I got a text saying that the house was not clean and would not be ready until 4 p.m. We went to have dinner with family, and came to the house around 8 p.m. We immediately noticed that the house was not clean. There were used Q-tips in the drawers in the bathroom and a used flosser in the bedroom. The floor was so dirty that my wife's feet were black after walking around without shoes and socks. About 9 p.m. we tried to turn on the TV and access the internet. Neither would work. I called the host and was told that the internet was out, but would be on the next day. The next day was Thanksgiving, and I doubted that this was true. Unfortunately, internet access was a requirement for this trip because my son-in-law is an IT specialist and was on call, but we had no choice but to wait and see. Around 10 p.m. we went to bed and hoped things would be better on Thursday. Around 11 p.m. a noise woke me up. I first thought it was outside, but when I heard it again, I knew what it was. I had heard that sound in my own house in the past. There was an animal in the attic. At this point, I no longer felt safe in the house and called Evolve. I told them about the problems and that we needed to leave and be refunded the full rental amount. Evolve told me to call Vrbo since the rental was through them. The Vrbo rep would not authorize a refund, but it didn't matter anymore. I had to get my family somewhere safe. We booked a hotel and left around midnight. I spent most of Thanksgiving Day talking to reps from Evolve and Vrbo, and the local host. No one would guarantee a refund. At 9 a.m. the host left a message that the internet would not be on until sometime Friday. This was completely unacceptable, and the animal in the attic was too much to excuse. I hoped that this would be a good property. My in-laws are aging, and we need a place to stay that's close by, but this home is not it. The house was not ready to rent. Someone from Vrbo or Evolve should have checked it before allowing someone to rent it. It's bad!!!!!
