Our host Luca was awesome! He met us at the house when we arrived and was available by text for anything we needed help with. He had some great suggestions for local restaurants, and agrotorismo's to visit in the surrounding compagna. Pietrabonddante is where my Nonni & Bisnonni & many Cugini came from so it was very meaningful to visit and take in the long history of this little hilltown. The Samnite temples and ampitheater are amazing as is the incredible location of the town itself, nestled into the 'abundant rock' overlooking the valley below. This is not a heavily visited town and it takes a little driving to get there, but it is well worth the effort! We will be back!

For us this was not a negative but it is good to know before you go. The closest restaurant is about 5 km outside of town, so plan on visiting the local shops and local butchers so that you can cook at the house. Pietrabonddante isn't catering to heavy tourism like a lot of the surrounding towns (Agnone for example), which can make travel there less convenient, but this is also the allure; you have the town to explore and can get to know those who live there.
