The Professor’s House is what it sounds like: a home where someone lived thoughtfully, and it remains that way. A UNC English professor collected the books and the art, travelling widely and bringing treasures back. The travertine-floored sunroom, the upright piano, the native plant garden, the soapstone kitchen counters -- it wasn’t designed. It accumulated. That is harder to replicate than any renovation.
Sunroom. Travertine floors. East-facing windows. A dedicated private workspace with a desk and strong wifi (572 Mbps). Glass doors open directly onto the flagstone patio and fire pit. The morning light here is the kind guests mention when they come back.
Living room. Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. Original artwork from the owner’s travels. A working Acrosonic upright piano. This is not a room that could belong to just any rental.
Kitchen. Soapstone counters. Full-size Frigidaire range with 5 burners. Dishwasher, microwave, drip coffee maker & electric kettle, stocked with Little Waves Coffee. Stocked with real cookware, knives, and the staples for cooking an actual meal.
Dining room. Separate dining room, table seats 4, connects naturally to the kitchen.
Bedrooms. King bedroom and full bedroom, both made to standard with good linens and ceiling fans. The sunroom sofa sleeps a fifth guest; extra pillows and bedding are stocked in the hall closet for their use.
Bathroom. Separate bathtub and walk-in shower. Fillaree shampoo, conditioner, and body soap stocked throughout.
Backyard. Fully fenced. Native plantings. Flagstone patio with a fire pit and outdoor seating. Covered parking for 2 cars in the rear, accessed via the alley.
Laundry. In-unit washer and dryer, iron & board.
You walk in and the local coffee is already in the kitchen. The note is on the counter. The bed is made right. That is how Delighted Properties works.
