Lighthouse View - Apartment by the Sea

Extremely comfy beds, great location, had everything inside it you could want & the top bedroom had a balcony with a lovely view of the sea. Good communication with host. Good use of key lock safe.

Cleaning was terrible, spider webs everywhere, balcony looked like it had never been cleaned. Considering we were told we couldn't check in early due to the cleaning we found this laughable! It was very expensive for two days but as we had been let down last minute we had no choice. Key lock safe is in a very awkward position outside unless you are thin. The tap is the 1st bathroom was hard to use as the sink is too high. Apart from the top bedroom no other bedroom had plug sockets near the bed. The 1st bedroom only had 1 plug socket in it at all. Someone had left the towel rail radiator on full blast in the top bedroom so that was like a sauna when we arrived & we couldn't work out how to turn it off. We woke up on the Saturday morning to no cold water & the instructions left to us were out of date....so we had to call the host to come & sort it out. Not ideal.

Liked the communal space in the kitchen/dining room. The view from the top bedroom across the sea was also lovely.

Hadn’t realised that another property is in the same building so it felt a bit less private.

Lovely accommodation. Easy walk into town. Bedrooms were spacious and comfy beds with nice linen.

Very clean but perhaps some attention needed to make sure clean under beds. Some new light bulbs needed and small repairs. But overall it was great.

The location was great and the space was good

Firstly there was no hot water for the whole time we were there which meant that none of us were able to have a hot shower. We followed the instructions to make the boiler work but after several attempts this failed. Also in the open plan kitchen there was no extractor fan which meant there was a smell of cooking throughout and also on our clothes when leaving. When we arrived there was a strong smell of smoke to which we notified the owner, which was dismissed by text. Then throughout our whole stay there was a strong smell of cannabis which was clearly coming from a neighbouring apartment but was present in the flat for the whole stay. We also booked the property for 10 people for a work weekend away, only 6 of us managed to go and we got a call from the owner just after 11 for noise complaints from the neighbours. The irony is we were only playing board games with no music on and she pulled the “my neighbours child has cancer” card on us. Now I’m assuming this is true as why would you make it up, but if that’s the case why rent out your property for a weekend to 10 people and not expect noise….did she think we were a book club?? This put a dampener on the whole stay as we were conscious of noise and afraid to upset the neighbours for the rest of the stay. If noise is an issue there then large groups shouldn’t be allowed book. She also complained to me about us going in and out of the apartment which we didn’t we had the windows open to remove the smell of cannabis which in turn made us louder to the neighbours. Whilst the size of the apartment was great for us we didn’t have an enjoyable stay. Both ruined by the landlord calling us about the neighbours and the lack/no hot water for showers.
