Bakoven Beach House

The beds were clean. There was hot water and I was happy that I only booked 1 night here.

The property description is totally inaccurate. It says 4 bedroom beach house. I specifically looked for a house to make sure that my whole family are together on the same accommodation. This is definitely NOT a beach house. It is back rooms through what used to be a kitchen door in the backyard of a restaurant. You can’t see the sea and the pictures online of the house on the beach are totally deceiving. There is a very narrow alleyway to get to the backyard entrance, our suitcases had to roll sideways it’s so small. Then….. it’s not one 4 bedroom house at all. There are separate sections with one large dormitory room at the bottom and the rest of the house upstairs. The floors were dirty. The curtains were so tatty, plastic and price tags still on the curtain rails, and there were big rats in the yard at night night when we came home.

Convenient and close to the beach, with comfortable beds and plentynof space for a large group or family. The house inside was very neat and clean, with friendly staff.

Nothing major, but I would've liked more cooking utensils in the kitchen - i.e Spatula, butter knives and serving spoons, but that's just me...

Severely Misrepresented and Unacceptable Stay This property bears little to no resemblance to the photos or description advertised. Access is through a dirty, foul-smelling alley, and the entrance gate does not close, creating serious safety concerns. The unit smells strongly of mould and sewage throughout. The bathroom is unhygienic and unusable, with a broken window, rotting wood, an exposed gutter in the floor, and a strange door leading nowhere. Furnishings are damaged and dirty, including a broken kitchen cabinet, stained blinds, windows, and a heavily stained sofa. The backyard is neglected, filled with cigarette stubs and rubbish, and has attracted rats. Basic amenities such as plates and crockery were not provided, which was not disclosed beforehand. The beach access and photos are misleading and do not reflect the actual location. To make matters worse, the owner was unresponsive and unprofessional, including abruptly ending calls and behaving in an intimidating manner. We only stayed one night due to a late arrival and immediately sought alternative accommodation. Given the price charged, this property is unsafe, unhygienic, and completely unacceptable. I would strongly advise others to avoid this listing. Host was not helpful at all and did not prioritise how we felt about the property.

Clean, spacious. Central and comfortable for a relaxing weekend. Space catered well for our large group. So Quiet. And just a few steps and you are on the beach. Well equipped inside.

No Utensils to use with the braai. No outdoor chairs. Rats running around in the bottom of the garden. Parking is on the street but we were told that upfront.

Clean apartment

Parking is a struggle No outside seating if you want to braai and chill (only a broken plastic chair and broken wooden bench). No extra black bags for the bin in the kitchen Housekeeper was still cleaning and drying towels by arrival at 15:45. The house is not Next to the beach. No tablets or washing powder to do your laundry. Room downstairs had a bad smell at arrival. Not able to use fireplace.
