Casa Nikana

We waren er in juni voor de trouwerij van onze zoon in het nabijgelegen Turcifal en Torres Vedras. Het huis was prima in orde en de gastvrouw was reuze aardig en stond steeds voor ons klaar. We hadden geboekt voor zes volwassenen en een kind. Dus alle slaapplekken waren wel nodig. Beneden zijn twee prima slaapkamers en dito badkamers. De kamer boven is echter open en wat laag. Je kunt er prima slapen, maar als het beneden nog gezellig is, klinkt dat natuurlijk wel door. De keuken is goed toegerust, al zouden een paar extra wijnglazen geen kwaad kunnen. De woning ligt op een apart deel van het perceel. Het andere deel is in gebruik bij de eigenaar, maar daar merk je niets van. Op het gedeelte van het huis ligt een zalig zwembad met ligstoelen en parasols en met ruim gras er rond heen, dat geheel tot je beschikking staat. Ook de omgeving is best aardig, flink heuvelachtig en leuke oude stadjes. Kortom een beste plek om te verblijven. Alleen wat jammer dat het dicht aan de weg ligt, die toch wat drukker was dan we verwacht hadden. Je went snel aan het geluid (ook buiten) en zeker binnen heb je er (beneden) geen last van, maar toch... Desondanks zouden we het huis zo weer boeken.

In de nacht op zolder (als het dus stil in huis is) komt het geluid van voorbij rijdende vrachtwagens behoorlijk door het dak heen. Door 's nachts daar een ventilator te laten draaien, viel dat in het zachte geruis wel weer weg en kon je toch prima slapen. Beneden in de slaapkamers heb je daar geen last van. Dat de bovenkamer gewoon open was, was voor ons ook een verrassing. Dat is op de foto's van het huis niet te zien. Op zich niet erg, maar het is fijn als je het vooraf weet.

Quero deixar aqui o meu agradecimento à D. Paula e ao seu irmão pela simpatia prestada por ambos. Pessoas excepcionais, muito prestáveis e muito simpáticas. Quanto à casa, nada a apontar, tudo muito bem estimado, arranjado, bem decorado. Limpeza óptima. Adorámos a piscina e a zona do churrasco. A casa encontra-se muito bem equipada, tem de tudo. Quartos e zona de estar com ar condicionado. Possui jogos para os miúdos como tiro ao alvo, bolas, raquetes.... Nível de privacidade excelente. Muito obrigado mais uma vez, e voltaremos sem pensar duas vezes. 😊

A Perfect Family Retreat – Casa Nikana Has It All We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Casa Nikana for our recent family holiday in Portugal, and it truly exceeded all expectations. Travelling with four children aged 10 to 17, we were looking for a space that was both relaxing for adults and fun for the kids – and Casa Nikana delivered on every level. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with exceptional hospitality and generosity by our host, Paula. Her warmth, helpful recommendations, and personal touches made all the difference. She ensured everything was ready for our stay, even providing pool toys, local tips, and a lovely welcome package. Paula’s kindness and attention to detail made us feel more like guests in a friend’s home than in a rental property. The house is spacious, beautifully maintained, and very well equipped for families. From a modern kitchen to multiple indoor and outdoor lounging areas, everything was designed with comfort in mind. The private pool was a highlight for our children – hours of fun in the sun, made even better by the inflatable toys and loungers provided. The location is perfect – peaceful and surrounded by nature, yet incredibly convenient. It’s only a 30-minute drive to Lisbon, and just 10 minutes to the nearby town of Turcifal, which has everything you might need – a shopping centre, supermarkets, cafes, and restaurants. The beach is also just 30 minutes away, so we were able to enjoy both the countryside and the coast with ease. We also took day trips to Óbidos and Nazaré, two must-see destinations. Óbidos, with its charming cobbled streets and medieval walls, was a hit with the adults, while the dramatic cliffs and waves at Nazaré were a thrill for the entire family. In every way, Casa Nikana offered the perfect balance of comfort, location, and atmosphere. Paula has created something special here. We left feeling relaxed, recharged, and incredibly grateful for the experience. We would return in a heartbeat.

There were truly no negatives to our stay at Casa Nikana. The property was spotless, beautifully maintained, and incredibly well-equipped. Its location struck the perfect balance between peaceful seclusion and convenient access to towns, beaches, and Lisbon. As for the host, Paula, her warmth, responsiveness, and generosity made the experience even more special. We genuinely couldn't have asked for more.
