Disappointing Experience with the Host Unfortunately, our stay was overshadowed by a very unpleasant interaction with the male host. A disagreement arose regarding the cleanliness of the property, particularly the microwave. He sent me photos after our stay, and I acknowledged that while it was clean the night before, one of the girls must have used it afterward and forgot to clean it. I sincerely apologized for the oversight. However, instead of accepting the apology, the host continued to be rude and disrespectful, even resorting to name-calling. I have screenshots of the messages as proof of this behavior. He insisted his home was flawless, which prompted me to mention a few issues we had noticed during our stay but hadn’t brought up at the time, as we didn’t want to cause any unnecessary trouble. Despite trying to explain things calmly, the host remained hostile throughout our exchange. This experience was deeply disappointing and left a sour taste, especially as I’ve spent many summers in France over the past five years without any issues. Sadly, this encounter has made me hesitant to return. I would rather spend my time and money somewhere I feel respected and welcomed — not insulted over a minor housekeeping issue. The room with the purple locker was dusty, and the ceiling fan in one of the rooms didn’t work during an intense heatwave, making it very uncomfortable. I reached out to the host after our stay to share feedback, but his response was dismissive and quite rude. Here are issues we found with his apartment : The master bedroom bed sheets had stains and old felt itchy, and the fan in the room was covered in dust. One of the pillows had a yellow stain, so the kids ended up sleeping without one. It was also very hot in the room, I mentioned about one of the kids is asthma patient and he was mocking and being rude about it.
