Hotel Mahima - a shabby hotel just beside Gwalior railway station
Had stayed in this hotel in December 2018 and again in 2018 and my experience is that earlier it was a budget hotel with reasonable standard but now it was worsened a lot. The only positive aspect is that it is very close to platform number 4 of railway station and one can walk straight into the hotel from railway station even with luggages through the last exit at south end of the platform.
This time I had booked one room from 26th to 29th through Agoda and at the last moment had to book another additional room for 2 days from 27th to 29th December through hotel website. I called the hotel reception one day before my arrival that I am going to reach at around 8:30 pm by CSMT Rajdhani.
Upon my arrival on 26th December, the man at the reception told me that I have room booking from 27th and no booking on 26th. I asked him to check properly as one booking was through Agoda fir 3 days and another through hotel website for 2 days. After a lot of arguments, they apologised and said room will be given to us. But after entering that room (room number 102) we found that the comode in toilet is not in working condition as the cistern does not get filled. The room was damp, and dirty as well. After our complaint, we came to know that everyone in the hotel was aware of all the problems. It was strange how did they allot this room to us. Anyway, after some time we were given another room (number 106) which was somehow better. The room given next day was damp but anyway we managed the next two days somehow.
Food was quite okay. We had tawa roti and chicken masala and paneer butter masala. One of the service boy Arshad was of good nature and well behaved. But this hotel with its standard should have room rent between Rs 600 to Rs 800, but charges over Rs 2000 to almost Rs 3000 per day and quote their rooms as premium quality !!!! Close proximity to the railway station has helped them to get guests throughout the year, that is what I realised after a disappointing stay
