The River Cottage is nestled right in the heart of the historic village of Sperryville in Rappahannock County, Virginia.This charming one story privatestructure was built in the early 1900's - owned by John Kiger. The building, now on the National Register of Historic Places, was originally a blacksmith shop. Conestoga wagons were made behind 29 Main Street along the Thornton River. It has been renovated into an quaint open one bedroom suite with private bathand is superbly appointed for guests to enjoy! Guests can make the most of private backyard and deck overlooking the Thornton River. Great location for a getaway, would definitely look to stay here again. Super clear instructions from the host, as well as flexibility to allow us to park a little before check in. Gorgeously renovated historic building with all amenities one could need for a trip to the area. Ideal for visiting Skyline Drive, Copper Fox, Little Washington and many local wineries.

The check in process was simply quick, the host provided us the directions and codes and we completed our stay. Amenities and cleanliness of the cottage was 10/10, AC and hot water was functioning properly considering the temperature outside was cold, we really needed those working well. Recommend for those looking for accommodations nearby Old Rag Mt /Shenandoah.

Cute place with a great location. The private deck next to the creek (called a river but really more like a creek) is great for relaxing with a glass of wine.

We stayed for one night for a quick getaway. Cottage was beautiful and very comfortable. Great location - we walked to dinner and for coffee/breakfast in the morning. Very peaceful to sit out back by the river. We loved everything about the place.
