River Beach House

Location was good. The host appeared only once to greet us and introduce himself and leave his number in case we needed him. There is easy access to shopping facilities and just around the corner from the Lido swimming area and the beach, and restaurants and bars which are scattered all along the sea front. The accessibility to the apartment was also good but has steep steps so not good for someone who has any problems with their legs. The apartment was easy to enter and consists of 3 rooms. Kitchen /dining area and a chaise longe single sleeping bed, which was not what I was expecting. A bathroom and a double bedroom. The apartment had said sofa bed in the living area, in it's description details, this was not really a sofa bed, but it wasn't uncomfortable. I let my friend who I travelled with have the double bedroom as she was older and we shared the wardrobe. The kitchen was very well presented and practical and well equipped. The fridge is also very good. Regarding the kitchen / dining area, the only problem is, if you are sleeping in this area like I had to, it is annoying when someone gets up earlier than you and annoys you whilst you are trying to sleep by pottering around in the kitchen area as it is all open-plan! So, in that sense, this area is not good for a sleeping area. The double bedroom was large, provided a good sized double bed, drawers and wardrobe and had access onto the balcony which was useful and also provided air conditioning. The bathroom was the one area I really feel should be looked at and re-designed. I have described the things we didnt like. The balcony is very good, provides a table and chairs. It was my favourite area of the apartment. It also provides washing line facilities which is useful to hang your bikinis after a hard day on the beach! You can sit and look at the river and people watch whilst you have a drink early evening before you go out to eat and for more drinks!

Immediate attention should be given to the bathroom. The size of the bathroom is fine. Although the door lock did not work which is impractical if you are a self-conscious individual. We are not, but I can imagine it could cause problems.The shower cubicle is much smaller than I had imagined from the photographs of the apartment rooms. It is difficult move around in the shower cubicle and I am slim and I found it difficult. It needs cleaning up and the shower gel holder is very rusty and needs replacing. The grouting needs replacing too as was mouldy. So although the shower was powerful and good, it didn't feel to be a pleasant experience. The drainage was also poor when you step out of the shower there is nowhere for the water to run and the mat is a real slip hazard. In my opinion if you have come away on holiday, you do not want to spend time mopping up the bathroom to get rid of water soaked floors! Mop and bucket are provided though. If you are dressed and ready to go out in the evening and decide you need the bathroom beware, the floor doesn't dry quickly! The toilet seat was broken. The bin next to the toilet was never emptied, we had to contact the nice lady in the travel agents below the apartment to help contact the host to get the bin emptied and this was after 6 days of our stay. In my opinion this should be done daily or every 2 days as it's unhygenic to leave any longer. The bed linen wasn't changed automatically every 2/3 days and we had to chase this up to be actioned too. I think the linen should be changed at least every 3 days. There is a washing machine provided but there is nowhere to hang sheets outside on the line as the travel agents below requested us not to hang large things over their roof as it was bad for their customer access.

Room was spotless clean and it was handy for the beach

Fantastic location and so well equipped. Nothing was too much trouble, and we will definitely be back again.
