RETIRO 401 one-bedroom apartment

Wir waren 6 Nächte zu Gast in Guimarães, nachdem ich den Ort vergangenes Jahr alleine besucht habe. Die Unterkunft ist zentral in der historischen Altstadt gelegen. Die Gastgeberin Ivone hat uns vorab alle wichtigen Informationen bereit gestellt, auch zu Anfahrt und Nutzung der Karte für das Parkhaus inkl. Links zu Google-Maps. Die Einfahrt in die Seitenstraße erfordert etwas fahrerisches Geschick. Die Unterkunft ist sehr gut ausgestattet mit einer vollwertigen Küche (auch mit Putzmitteln, Geschirrspültabs und Waschmittel). Durch den Tisch und die weiteren Möbel, insb. den Kleiderschrank, haben wir genug Stauraum und Ablagemöglichkeiten gehabt. Am Wochenende war die Stadt abends lebhaft. Wir haben im Schlafzimmer zum Innenhof hiervon nichts gehört, ebenso nicht vom Restaurant im Nebenhaus, und auch sonst sehr ruhig schlafen können. Durch die zentrale Lage hatten wir nur kurze Wege zu den umliegenden kleinen Geschäften, Restaurants sowie Sehenswürdigkeiten. Guimarães bietet für uns einen gediegenen und angenehmen Kontrast zur urbanen Lebhaftigkeit Lissabons und Portos sowie den unrühmlichen Seiten des Tourismus an anderen Orten Portugals (stets abhängig von den Gästen natürlich, nicht den Einheimischen). Abschließend haben wir die Preis-Leistung als fair empfunden. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder nach Guimarães und auch gerne wieder in diese Unterkunft von Ivone.

Insgesamt keine echten Nachteile oder Probleme - eine Erneuerung der Duschabdichtung wäre ein Pluspunkt :)

Location was excellent. Having access to the garage, walkable to the local sites and grocery stores. Near the bus station for 1 day trips.

A very comfortable and clean apartment right in the city center, yet tucked away, making it quiet and peaceful. Communication with the host was smooth, and both check-in and check-out were hassle-free. Excellent restaurants are just a few minutes away. I highly recommend Tasquinha das Canecas, located right next to the apartment, as well as República do Polvo. I plan to return at the next opportunity.

Ivone is a jewel! Friendly, Responsive, Accommodating, goes above and beyond, us a superior host! I loved being downtown, however what comes with that is narrow streets that aren't made for cars. Therefore, travel light, dropping of bags is a bit of a challenge. Ivone gave me excellent instructions on how to accomplish bag drop-off parking, check-in, long-term parking, and order in which to best accomplish these tasks! I was visiting in later Nov, with colder than normal temps, so I very appreciated having split(combo heat & ac) units, 1 in living area & 1 in bedroom. Be advised, if the unit has been vacant, it can take A Long time to get the flat warm. Just set them on highest setting, once warm, its not hard to maintain the warmth. It's wonderful having an excellent chef Rui running an awesome restaurant right next door! Delicious hot made to order food! Try the Sardines, Cod, and if available, the slow cooked ribs! Yum!!
