Beautifully located hotel. So close to happening street n the station n the bus stop. Really good sized rooms. Bf also decent. Must mention the reception guy who was so helpful went out of the way to help us. Name was mr. Shiv. They had free water ice n microwave facility. Also laundry n drier paid ofcourse.

The hotel location is great and the accommodations are fine if a bit small and uninspiring. The staff, however, were not particularly friendly or welcoming, and seemed to be watching us at all times with suspicion... I'm still not sure why. A great hotel should feel like a home away from home, and we did not feel that way here which is too bad considering the room wasn't exactly a bargain. We probably wouldn't stay here again.

Upscale hotel in a great location. Helpful staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

6.4 / 10Average·Oct 2026

For any Western travelers coming to his hotel, I think some review perspective is in order. First the rooms are not big, unless you’re comparing it to a capsule hotel. The toilet and shower are combined. I have never seen a cheap shower curtain in a Japanese hotel room at a $***/night price point. There’s no place to put your luggage. And the pictures of corner rooms are not what you’re going to get. We definitely felt deceived by the booking photos. For comparison, the room feels like a Motel 6 you would find in America. It is 3 star at best. Cheap furniture and no sense of style. The “fridge” is just a box cooler and you have to request an ice pack every day from the front desk. Like I said, cheap. Location is excellent and the room is clean but that is the only positive. We’ve been in Japan for over a month and have stayed at 6 other hotels which were all excellent and represented online well for their price point. This is the first hotel we’ve been to where we open up the door to the room and were greatly disappointed. Takayama does not have a lot of Hotel options during high season - but there is no fair value here (I’d say negative value for your money) and I recommend looking elsewhere, even if it costs a little more.
