About this villa rental

La maison du prince Pierre is a historic family home located in the heart of a Balagne village, ten minutes' drive from the beaches of Calvi.

Originally the home of a sgió ("lord" in Corsican), it was the centre of a vast olive-growing and wine-producing estate.
Then, the estate was bought by Prince Pierre-Napoléon Bonaparte, nephew of Napoléon I.
The columned terrace, inspired by the Florentine Palazzo Bargello, became a meeting place between the sea and the mountains, where poetry and the arts were celebrated.

Today it is set in 800 m2 of gardens, mainly planted with olive, laurel, orange and jasmine trees. The secure swimming pool, shady arbours and outdoor kitchen and barbecue are just the thing for your Mediterranean dreams.

Step inside and you'll be seduced by its authenticity: from the billiards room to the library lounge, there's something for everyone. The fully-equipped kitchen, with its old brass oven, will add rustic charm to your family meals.

Sleeping accommodation is as follows :
On the ground floor, a double bedroom and three single bedrooms (with two single beds). One of the single bedrooms has its own bathroom. The others share a central bathroom. There is also a bathroom with bath on this floor.
Upstairs are three master suites with en-suite bathrooms. There are also two double bedrooms.

As the house is in the centre of the village, you'll have direct access to all the local shops and restaurants, as well as mountain walks. It's easy to explore the picturesque villages of Balagne. The beach is just 10 minutes away by car.

We spent a wonderful week in this lovely house! We were a big family of three generations, 15 persons aged between 1 and 73 who all enjoyed the house and its surroundings. We especially appreciated the big and beautiful house with many separate bedrooms and bathrooms, the big and well equipped kitchen, the pool area, the surroundings with near access to fresh bread and grocery store, and amazing walks along the GR20 just outside the door. Our rented cars could be parked outside in the private parking and trips to mountain villages, Calvi, vineyards and nice beaches were easily accesible. We definately want to come back!

My wife, Elizabeth Galvin, rented the Villa Bonnet in Calanzana, Corsica, for two weeks in August of this year. Her guests, besides me, were her three sons and five grandchildren. Also, a couple of friends of one of the sons came from Britain for a couple of days. The villa was excellent in its design for sleeping, eating, and enjoying the great surrounding views of the volcanic range of mountains and Mediterranean Sea. It also had a walled-in beautiful and almost daily-cleaned swimming pool in an area that had a large dining table, a barbeque, and great views over the wall of a range of volcanic mountains. It was also on a street with several nearby nice restaurants. Its interior was furnished with elegant and often antique furniture and great paintings and sculpture. It was also a short drive from there to the small city of Calvi with its interesting architecture and interesting tourist attractions and beaches. It was also surrounded by roads viewing the great mountain of Corsica and other interesting villages. The owner’s son, M. Pierre-Jean Bonnet, was there on our arrival and mostly during our stay (even though his permanent home was on the mainland). He helped with any of our questions about the Villa and/or its Corsican surroundings. We know of no Americans that have been to Corsica. The prospect of staying at the Villa Bonnet in Corsica might change their minds. Robert E. Lingle
