About this house rental
The Weathered Pelican is a newly renovated tetradecagon (14-sided house) with 2 BRs and 1 bath in the main house and an additional 3rd bedroom and 2nd bath a separate built out rental in the detached garge. Located in the small historic coastal community of Sunbury GA, the house is about 35 minutes south of downtown Savannah. Beautifully appointed with new furnishings, mattresses and home decor, this uniquely shaped home offers fine accommodations to explore the Georgia Coast. Sleeping accommodations include a King bed in the master and your choice of 2 Twin XL beds in BR#2 or a Queen sleeper sofa in living room. There is a queen bed in the separate rental in the detached garage. Other benefits includ a newly renovated spacious bathroom in the main house with large walk in shower and access to washing machine & dryer. The space in the detached garage also has a walk in shower.
Bring your boat and back into the water at the Sunbury public boat ramp less than 1 mile away. The 0.6 acre lot has cool outdoor space with a fire pit for guest use and plenty of room for your vehicles (covered parking) and also space for your boat trailer. Rent dock space for your boat from the nearby marina 1.2 miles away at Sunbury Crab Company, a local favorite steak and seafood restaurant on the Medway River. Centrally located between Savannah and Brunswick, this rental is your home base for day trips to explore 3 GA beach towns. Head north to Tybee Island Beach about 70 minutes away and then head south the next day to the beach at Jekyll Island or St Simons Island, also about 70 minutes away. Or stay close to learn local history at Fort Morris State Park (short walk of 0.2 miles away) or fish at the public pier near the boat ramp. Shoot skeet or book a quail hunt at near by Dorchester Hunting Preserve down the Old Sunbury Road. We stayed at this property in June and had an amazing vacation!
My kids called it the “treehouse” since it sits up high and they LOVED it!
The property is updated, super clean, bright and cheerful. The nautical bedding in the kids room is adorable and there were lots of cute touches like that around the cottage.
During the day we went boating, which was a short golf cart ride to the water for us. And at night we grilled at the house and made s’mores on the campfire. The host thought of everything and we will definitely be back again!
