Tenuta Sant'Ilario

We had a wonderful four-night stay at Tenuta Sant'Ilario. This place is an absolute gem. From the moment we booked through to check-out, every member of staff was kind, helpful, and friendly, always ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Our room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully decorated, with ample wardrobe space, air conditioning, and tea and coffee-making facilities. The large shower had excellent water pressure, and the complimentary toiletries were a lovely touch. Our room was conveniently located near the pool and restaurant, with a short walk along a charming cypress tree-lined path leading up to reception. The entire estate is stunning. Everything is immaculately maintained and captures the beauty of traditional Tuscan style. There is plenty of space around the pool, which is peaceful and relaxing, surrounded by olive groves. Enjoying a cold glass of the estate's own delicious wine by the pool was a particular highlight. We dined at the restaurant twice during our stay, as both the food and service were exceptional. Watching the sunset over dinner before spending the evening stargazing was a truly memorable experience. The estate is ideally located for exploring Tuscany, although I would recommend having a car as it is quite remote. The nearest town offers all the basic amenities you might need, and I would also highly recommend a visit to nearby Villa Pillo for a meal. The photos simply do not do this place justice—it is full of charm and absolutely beautiful. As others have mentioned, the road leading to the estate is not in the best condition. However, if you drive slowly and have a vehicle with reasonable ground clearance, it is perfectly manageable. There is also plenty of parking available on-site. We would not hesitate to return and highly recommend Tenuta Sant'Ilario to anyone looking for a peaceful and authentic Tuscan escape.

Only 2 very minor things - No Iron in the room. Pool bar not open most days we were there.

Lovely peaceful location. The building was characterful and situated beautifully in its setting. The restaurant staff were excellent and made us feel very welcome. It also made a nice contrast to some of the more town based hotels along the Via Francigena

Hard to complain about anything really. I suppose because it is a bit out of town, on foot it is a little bit of a climb. In April the swimming pool was also a little chilly for a comfortable swim.

An authentically converted eco hotel set in the rolling hills of Tuscany, this family run business has a personal touch with impeccable service. The room was beautifully decorated and cosy with a comfy bed. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and elegant.
