Praia da Granja - Seaside Beach

What a lovely little gem this place is. I travelled to Granja with my wife and both of us have travelled the world extensively in the travel industry. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by our host Luis who together with his wife Fillipa made us feel at home immediately. The accommodation is spotlessly clean with a small but fully functional kitchen with everything you will need for a short stay. The beds were super comfortable and we slept soundly every night 🌙 The bathroom is a walk in shower and very spacious.compared to hotels The best is yet to come. The terrace and garden is in an enclosed space for your own use and beautifully shaded a real retreat after a day at the beach. Location wise.....200m to the beach and 2 mins to the train station which takes you to Porto north in 20 mins and south to places like Aviero and the nearby resort of Espinho just one stop. The nearby fishing village of Aguda is a 15 min walk along the coast and there you will find more restaurants and shops. In Granja itself there are two beachfront restaurants with stunning views of the Atlantic.both reasonably priced. The beaches are beautiful but rocky and therein lies the beauty at low tide you can see all manner of marine life in the rock pools. There are places to swim also but these are in designated areas and life guarded. Summary... If you are looking for a party resort this is not for you. If you are looking to relax and chill and enjoy the rugged beauty of the North Atlantic coast with few tourists. This is the place to be. Thanks again Luis and Fillipa.

After such a positive post there is nothing to dislike

Great place by the sea. Host was the best and very friendly and the place was immaculate 👌

Location: quiet, steps from the beach for beautiful long walks along the boardwalks, short walk to great seaside restaurants, a block from train station for a short ride into Porto, €26 taxi ride back from Porto. Facilities: small space but very clean and comfortable for two for a three nights, nicely heated for a December stay. Owners: welcoming, gracious and helpful.

Was a small space but we planned accordingly so we didn’t have to use our large suitcases, just lived out of our carryon luggage for three days. That worked well.

Location very good. Near the beach. Nice restaurants. Quiet peaceful relaxing. Host very approachable and friendly. Nice hospitality of wine cheese and crackers also tea and coffee. Clean towels provided in the week Nice patio area and garden

First 3 days apartment was damp. Clothes and bedding, very unpleasant. Bathroom had no extractor fan so door opened into bedroom making the environment humid. We did reach out to the host who provided a dehumidifier which solved the problem. On the day we forgot to switch the dehumidifier on , clothes and bedding were damp again. After a few hours of dehumidification the problem solved again. But when you are on holiday and sometimes rushing out it’s easy to forget, so an extractor in the bathroom would most probably solve this issue. It did spoil the experience a little bit.
