Torrumbarry Weir Holiday Park

Torrumbarry is one of those places that is a hidden gem

This holiday park is in an exceptionally beautiful location, right next to the Murray River and the Torumbarry Weir. We awoke each morning to the sound of native birds, while the nights were completely silent. Our cabin was enormous, with a large living/kitchen/bedroom area and 2 more bedrooms with double bunks. The staff were very helpful. I phoned beforehand to check the state of the river, as there had been flood warnings, but was assured that we were totally safe. The staff were also very grateful for any feedback that we could give about our cabin, such as a light that was working intermittently. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

Perhaps the one drawback (or maybe it was an advantage?) was that there was no phone or internet reception - nada, zilch - which is unusual in this day and age, even in the country. However, we found that there was reception at the weir next door, so I suppose if we were desperate we could have used that. There was a TV, but only local free to air channels available.

Great location for skiing. Nice and quiet on this part of the river.

Needs a LOT of work done. Pool and grounds have been let go. Needs a fair bit of fixing and maintenance.
