Mit wenig Aufwand könnte man die Unterkunft aufwerten. Trockentücher, funktionierende Kaffeemaschine und Spülmaschine und etwas mehr Sauberkeit in Küche und Bad.

The facilities comprise a complete apartment with a large terrace overlooking the sea. The host Antonio was most accommodating and responsive. He had just installed a completely new 65" television, and the channels were very extensive. The living room and dining section were spacious, and the views were very nice. Also the airconditioning systems - 1 in the living room, 1 in the master bedroom were working very well. Antonio prepared a welcome package with the initial basic necessities such as grounded coffee, milk, fusilli, crackers, pasta sauce, etc.

The overall apartment, especially the bathrooms, and kitchen, needs extensive renovation. It feels old and tired. The bathroom was well equipped, but the overall look was rather dirty. I understand that one wants to give all an authentic look, but bathrooms should be top-notch when you want to rent things out, and I recommend that one looks carefully at these. The showers are about 50x50cm, with curtain rails hanging loose from the wall. Taking a shower was rather uncomfortable having the cold curtains sticking to you. For the kitchen, I did not have the feeling that one has really prepared things well for new guests but rather just left it as the owner uses it. Small spoons were somewhere in a pot with utensils which we eventually found. No mugs, just espresso cups, were present in the kitchen. Antonio directed me, upon asking, to a cupboard in the living room where we could find mugs. There were also just 3 wine glasses present in the kitchen. I prefer, however, not to have to bother the owner for such small things. For the significantly high price, this should be complete and present. The dishwasher and all other equipment, I estimate, are more than 20 years old. The dishwasher did not work any longer. Antonio was definitely friendly and brought us some great ice cream with an apology. But still, matters should have been prepared properly and not have to be discovered by the guests. Although from the map, the center looks rather close; this may be deceiving. Antonio said it takes about 7 minutes to the Taormina center, but this may be if you sprint down the stairs. It took me going down, normal walking, about 12 minutes. Going up, of course, is different. You have to climb up about 300 steps, which will take a trained person about 20 minutes. One needs to know this beforehand. The terrace was nice, but the pool (Best Way framed pool) with boarded curved and deteriorated panels was not inviting to be used.
