About this house rental
Find a moment of peace and tranquility in this 1 king size double bed Gite in peaceful rural Dordogne. Close to the river and many local attractions. Surrounded by nature and trees .
As you approach the property via a tree-lined drive, you are immediately transported into a haven of tranquility.
A short drive of 4km or a relaxing walk of up to 1 hour/cycle 30mins approx. takes you into the beautiful town of St Alvere, renowned for its truffle market, fresh produce being readily available at the market held on Monday mornings and here you will discover fine restaurants, a tourist office, boulangeries, and a friendly tabac, where musical events are held . A grocery store for all your general needs is situated in the centre. At the end of the main street (past the Tabac on the right) there is a laundry with drying facilities and a bank can be found next to the tourist office.
The property is ideally situated for exploring the heart of the Perigord and all of its wonderful attractions.
The airport of Bergerac is approximately 25mins drive and has a medieval city centre where you can sail the river on a "gabarre" and the Saturday market is well worth a visit also. The historic city of Perigueux 45mins away with its exquisite cathedral and many ancient streets to explore.
The beautiful market town of Le Bugue with all its general amenities/supermarkets/aquarium and adventure park is situated on the river Dordogne and just a 15min drive away.
Les Eyzies with its famous grottos and Sarlat with its medieval centre and well visited market on Saturdays are also great tourist attractions and well worth a visit.
St Alvere is surrounded with ancient history for your activities, but should you just want to while away the hours by the river with a picnic and a glass, there are many areas to do just that! .
