Holterman Hostel

Breakfast area is cute, small tables and decorations around the breakfast / reception area. Cushions to sit on. Caters well towards single and travellers who are couples. Breakfast is averagely expensive for Europe, I think it was €13-€14 per day, but probably about average for Sweden, though the range of offerings are a bit limited compared to a hotel, it was tasty and filling, the staff are pleasant and easy to engage in conversation if they are not busy. Sharing a bathroom was a different experience, but it caters well for disabled guests and this matters a lot. The location is a bit out of town, though Chalmers is at a major bus & tram intersection so you shouldn't be stuck for transport. Staff, well there was just 1 on the reception / breakfast area, she was a student herself completing some holiday vacation time work before returning to University and easy to chat to, as well as being friendly / personable. Chalmers is the site of a University, but in late June (2026) all the students have left so it was very quiet.

Battleship grey walls, I loathe grey paint on walls. It is a horrible colour, slightly depressing. There were no images or artwork on the walls to liven the rooms up, thankfully it was only for 2 nights. Someone please update the colour scheme, add a bright and colourful mural on to the bedroom & bathroom walls, something to brighten the place up. Really needed the option to have a kettle in the room. You have to open the windows for ventilation, though the level of sound on the street doesn't really help so much for sleep. The phenomena of it never really getting dark at night (June in Göteborg) is a new one on me. So that you have to tuck the curtains into the radiator to block out the half light. Problem - if you have to check out, but leave your suitcase with the staff it is securely locked away until they return at about 15:00 and you will not be able to get it back. Plus your door access card will expire (after your official check out) and the door entry code did not work. There is no buzzer or intercom to contact the staff inside. Thankfully for me there was a current guest relaxing outside and they could apply their key to unlock the door. There REALLY needs to be an intercom on the door.

Meget fine forhold. Nemt at komme til og fra både i bil og med sporvogn. De ansatte tog godt i mod os.

The location was good and close to the tram station but they had huge construction around. It was not problematic but may have mentioned that or email us about that.

As a hustle they had kitchen in our floor but it was closed. I had many problem for having a glass of water. I guess kitchen has to be available because otherwise how people can stay there without fridge and water supply. Soap and shampoo was not provided in the bathroom which is wired. The property is totally renewed and perfect just needs to fix these points.
